which modem is better

I don't have broadband and I need a faster 56K modem cause my one sucks. I was wondering if anyone knows which one of these is better:

US Robotics 56K USB

SupraMax (DIAMOND) USB

both are v.92 and have identical specs...I was just wondering which one performs the best???

is possible id recommend getting a pci modem as they are a litte bit faster, but if its only between those two id just get the cheapest it wont make much difference of 56k tbh

does everyone else agree that internal modems are better than USB??? I thought USB might be better because most asdl modems are USB....

in order from fastest to slowest - serial, pci hardware, usb, pci software

best modem i ever had was a creative 56k modem blaster external (serial) gave me a 120 ping on uk servers for counterstrike

I think my record with Ping and 56k was 83 in QWTF servers.

But Id rather choose external that internal.

internal dynomode is good ..i have it on my other pc and the speed is better than this one.

dynomode is cheap too if u can find one.

I have used US robotics modems extensively at work and home and have never had a problem with them.... FYI

Personaly I'd avoid a USB modem, as I have some other USB devices on my PC... they all share the bus.

And with a serial modem you get to see the flashing lights, so you know instantly if your connected or not.

There are a lot of SOFTWARE based modems out at the moment, its imperative that you avoid these, the last thing you want is your computer doing some of the work the modem should be doing.

As for the noise, you can turn that off on an external one easily, some have volume controls on the modem, others just stick an AT&M0 in the modem configuration settings in Windows.
