Which Caster?

Hey, I recently decided to try Albion Prydwen out, and I'd like to start a caster, but all 4 appeal to me - Wizards for their aoe nukes and fire, Cabalists for their huge pets and aoe DOT, Theurgists for their pet swarms and speed, Sorcerers for their aoe mez, ability to charm humanoids, and speed. I've never really played a caster before, but it's something I would like to do, does anyone have any suggestions? Are any of them getting soundly nerfed in upcoming patches?

sorcs are getting nerfed loads next patch ..too many theurgs ,wizards r boring..MAKE A 50 MATTER CABBY >.<they pwn

AE DoT gets better next patch and matter cabbies yell hooray.

Sorc gets nerf when mez nerfs come. And DD goes to another resist type again.

Theurgist has decent nukes and PBT. Pets are not as usefull in RvR as you might think.

Wizards... well... all you can say is that they deal damage.

thanks for the info, thing was I wanted to help lowbies with buffs (as I myself have been helped in the past) so wizard or theurgist would seem a good choice, cabalist was one I was also looking into, and sorcerer looks downright fun, although nerfing mez would I suppose screw them over quite a lot.

tbh Sorcs wont be -THAT- affected by the mezz nerf, it's not like we can trust our mezz anyway.

Not true actually. As far as I know there are two - Delket's alt and Diseased. Diseased even wrote a levelling guide for all wannabee matter cabalists:-

There are a fair number of lower level matter cabalists coming through, I have a level 11 myself - bless

Most of the level 50 cabalists on Prydwen are Body Cabalists. On paper it looks like the best line to starting players, but when you've RvR'd with other characters and seen what DoTs and Nearsight can do - well, I bet most of them wish they'd specced differently.

I was also thinking of an earth specced wizard, I heard ground targetted aoe spells get a boost next patch, although I'm not too sure what they are

But yes, Sorcerer has always appealed to me.

Both body spec Matt, a sub discussion started in this thread concerning how many matter spec cabalists we have - and they are still in the minority at level 50 despite being the much more useful RvR speccing.

no need for targets. usefull for keep raids, mile gate camping and the likes

Who cares?point is there isn't that much cabalists,they are a good class people think they are gimps because there isn't much of them when they aren't.

Point being there is so many dam sbs being made it's going to be hard using a caster in rvr unless you have pbaoe.

I know but its the one type of class I have played the least, and I'm up for the challenge, anyway I changed my mind and I'm going for sorcerer, I was thinking something like 41 body, 35 mind - is this an ok spec?

Well, you can survive 1 SB / NS when he misses his PA. /face /qc root distance, nuke away.... Use those magic stones you but with bountypoints to get health back

Too many Theurgists .. hmm ... with my pally (29) or wiz (38) , I have grouped with one Theurgist since I started. So many see the class as totally gimped and leave it for the "cool" classes

a) Infiltrator
b) Matter Cabbie

At least with the latter, they still group with you in RvR though!

They hardly miss PA do about 400 on matt when they use 2h by doing it.

Don't know why people think there are so many cabalists around ... (but more theurgs is good too Maybe I've been unlucky but the two or three I have grouped with recently as my alt have all been of the afk type -- even if they didn't say so. Is it that the only reason people roll theurgs these days is because they run PBT and level fast?)
