Hi all, i´m thinking on buying a new graphics card, but, i´m not sure on which one, i have read a few posts in this forum but still having no clue on what to buy.

I can not pay a radeon 9800, so i´m thinking most on 9600 (128 one), do these work fine with Daoc SI? (with the last drivers). Also considering the nvidia 5600, but i read that is not supported by SI, is this still true with the last drivers?.

Well my system spec now is:

Amd 2000xp
GA-7VA motherboard
512 DDR ram (333Mhz) (going to upgrade to 1024 in november)
Gf440mx (<-- crap :()
DSL 256kbps
Directx 9.0b
Win XP SP1

Thx in advance :)

I have the 256MB FX5600. It does run in SI zones but only with classic shadows. Roll on the next set of drivers from Nvidia. See what happens then.

I have a Radeon 9600 (128)
I also have a Athlon XP 2000 as you do
and the same amount of ram.
DAoC does run slow in places, but only because i've been told it's a really poor graphics engine. I run 2 accounts and run them both quite well, running one account runs very well and only ever lags in huge emain zergs.
It's a well rounded card and I run most games very smoothly ( UT 2003, Homeworld 2, etc)
But I think the nvidia card would be better for you for daoc, i've just had a few problems with nvidias in the past so i chose radeon

I wouldnt really touch a FX card below the 5900 tbh.

For future proofing -> 9600pro+

If not bothered about HL2 and such (dx9 games) -> G4Ti series

What that there dude said. G4Ti series are fine for DAOC, wont run better with anything else and drivers are very stable.

Or gofor the Radeon 9600+, a better card on paper, but there seem to be a few people having various 'problems', maybe latest set of drivers arent too hot or the hardware isnt that reliable, i dunno.
