Where is the force???

I have heard that the force slots have been unlocked by several charracters on some of the US servers. Had a google surf around but there seems to be lots of conflicitng opionions about what happens and where it happens..

Some say you have to learn masters in ALL professions, others say just the CORRECT ones for the class.

Anyone know anything, have a link or something?

As a side point, I am thinking of joining the game now that there are Euro servers. I have beta tested Horizons, but apart from the crafting the game seems incomplete.

Whats the optnion of this forum? SWG good or cack? I am an ex DAOC and AC2 player (amongst others).

well, daoc was worse then swg is now when they first launched. Look at all the patches and problems they still have... Ac2 well thats plain cack:) Gotta say I was dubious bout swg, pretty much ignored it, was a rash buy, but its the closest thing to an rpg since UO. The player run economy and the crafting/professions. Other games dont seem to have got close to the feel of uo for me [not lookin for an argument as im not interested:] Early days as I only bought it yesterday :)) Newbie! Seems `ok`.

Well it is verified that a force sensitive slot has been opened. But the big question is how.. some say its only achieved by mastering the right skills. 8 total I think. Of which 6 are told by a holocron, which you can loot from several force sensitive npc' s.
the 8 skills are determined when you create your character.. but it might be random
( thats about all I heard about it)

Other say several quests have a influence.. I dont think it is revealed yet on how to unlock it for sure.

Someone else told me you have to at least find an image designer and get a haircut like young skywalker had in the movie to unlock the FCS :p

[edit]

I think its good.. very good.. very very much possibilities and potential, they just need to add a bit spice to most things to give it more depth. :) and they have to introduce player cities and mounts! as soon as possible.. :)

After the fourth holo I mastered artisan and brawler.
Other stuff:
Finished the rebel themepark, did some other rebel-related quests. Did the jedi-quests on dantoine ( or dathomir, not sure, from the jedi in the cave with the dark jedi outside ?) Not much else in quests though.

Got the two monthly badges on the rebel side, no others.
Placed a house and declared residence, yesterday.
Was rebel colonel, the highest rank, for a long time.
The slot opening message came at the first mob i killed today on dathomir, a female picket longhorn

Zina's path to unlocking:

im not sure what i did. i have always believed i've been close. this morning i woke up, and finished the corellian part of the the rebel themepark. i had some wounds so i went to theed to get healed. i did this because the next step was to head to lok. i stopped in theed and realized i had given up my medic ability to craft health woundpacks. i dropped ranged support I and got organic chem I. within 3 mintues, music played, and i got the message. all i could say 5000 times was OMG. i stayed on the server for a few more mintues, logged off and logged back on to create a new character.

professions mastered:
artisan
scout
entertainer
brawler
medic
marksman
pistoleer
creature handler
weaponsmith
architect
droid engineer
merchant

i have been an imp, then a rebel, then an imp and ended up as a rebel. my highest rank was only the 2nd imp rank and the 1st rebel rank. i have 8 badges:

compassion
deadeye
deadeye II imp
deadeye II rebel
finishing the warren
5 badge collector badge
intellect
alturism

i have completed jabba and imp themepark

i've done missions on every planet, and i can pretty much solo anything if im smart. i've sold close to 5,000 firearms probably.
PLAYER NR3

All of these 3 had verified FCS....
and had this in common..

What they had in common:
-Powergamers (play at least 5 hours a day)
-Have played their characters almost since launch
-Declared at some point (1 Rebel colonel, 1 Rebel Warrant Officer 2, 1 Imperial Corporal)
-had houses and declared residence.
-mastered professions after their holocrons went silent.
-were in PAs at some point in the game
-Did at least one faction themepark (Rebel hideout or Imperial retreat)
-Mastered at least 9 professions each (2 did 9 professions, 1 mastered 12 profressions)

Some of the things that might have helped out:
-The German guy mentioned he deliberately visited every city on every planet. Unknown if this has an effect, since Zina never said what cities he/she visited.
-Two of the three mentioned giving away a holocron
-All three did at least 2 themeparks each (Faction + 1 or more others)

Some of the disproven theories are:
-You must max out rebel/imperial faction and rank
-You must visit every planet (I think Zina said he/she never visited Dathomir)
-You need to collect all of the badges

=============================================

go make your own Jedi now! :p

I think that I might take a five second breath of air and a lay down in a dark room before I attempt all that lot...

So come on guys, whats it like SWG?

is it worth buying? Are the Euro servers working well? Where are they? Whats the ping like? whats the comunity like?

this game has had a lot of bad press... Is it true or are the devs coming up with stuff to do? Is the rebel vs imperial empire PvP thing working out, or it just a paradise for greif players...?

There that should kick a flame war or two off ;-)

Its worth trying.
No idea staying on Eclipse.
Servers based in amsterdam, customer service (hah!)based in UK.
50-70 from UK for me.
No idea for euro servers, Eclipse has a good community though.
Its true, but not as bad as its made out to be, lots of stuff is scheduled for release soon.
Some grief players, same as most mmorpgs. PvP works fine aslong as you spend a decent amount of your points on combat related skills, dont expect to solo a commando as a master dancer :) main problem with PvP is it lacks focus as a whole.

ok shatter only played 3 days so far but this is what i think of it-

i played daoc for 2 yrs so maybe when i came to this i thought it would be the same experience when i play it. i can tell you its 100% different. for a start, in my 3 days of playing ive spoken to 3 people and seen around 10. that is too much like eve for me, only there i never seen or spoke to anyone.
in daoc id speak to god knows how many people and see too many to remember. maybe its just cos the servers are new.

also when you start there is no clear thing you should be doing, if you got no imagination do not bother playing this ;) you will just be standing around thinking "hmm".

another thing is its quite hard to make money. thing is when you kill a mob like a wort or something (i say that cos i aint walked far yet), you could possibly harvest something from it if you got the skills. in daoc if you killed a snake it dropped a leather jerkin, a chocolate muffin and 5 silver ;) and you cant sell it to NPCs either, if a player doesnt want something youve listed, your buggerd. if you spent all your money listing items in the bazar and no one buys it then you will have no money because it costs 20cr to list it in the first place.

there is many ways it is better aswell. there is no clear indication if something is easy to kill untill you try kill it, where as in daoc it had a colour bar saying how hard it is. you also rely on other people a lot, which is good in a way too. AND you have to find your own resources to make stuff (or buy it off someone else) where as in daoc a merchant had all of it and you had no interaction with the environment.

oh yeh and if there is a character you wanna play like image designer, just play, dont listen to everyone saying its crap and unpopular, i think i did that a bit and so far i cant find anything else i like except chef and tailor ;)

i think it may be good for the free month but after that im not sure it is worth £11-12 a month.

Probably becouse its new, or you have chosen the most remote of locations :)

True, theres no right or wrong thing to do and the sheer openended way of the game takes a while to get used to.

Not really, loads of differant ways to make money, one thing i wouldnt say about the game is that its hard to make money.

There is, theres a small circle to the right of the npc/creatures name it changes depending on what weapon your using equaling how hard generally it is.

Green : cannon fodder
Light blue : weak
Blue : bit weaker then you
White : about as strong as you
Yellow : stronger then you
Red : go ahead punk!

Although when you start to get the elite professions its easy to kill some reds.

edit : you can also hold your mouse over the targets ham bars for a second and it will say how much ham they have, and use examine from the radial menu to see the targets resistances and armour rating etc..

Its so easy to make money its not funny :) Number one rule while levelling:

missions, missions, missions!

And if you waste all your money listing things on the bazaar do delivery missions to raise cash, you dont have to even leave the NPC cities to make cash in this game.

It really is very easy once you pick up on the ways to make cash.

I can make 10k'ish/hour right after character creation.
Job of an errand boy pays extremely well when you consider the risks of the job. AFAIK shuttle crashes havent been coded yet.

Easy missions = Artisan survey missions

Select the artisan missions terminal and /waypoint
now run 1024m away an start surveying for the highest % of a metal or gas and waypoint it.
Now just keep running back and forward grabbing the highest paying mission for that type, type /survey wen you reach you waypoint an Bingo, an extra 1.8K for 5 mins running

or goto dathomir and group with a creature handler, grab Kam missions and hope you dont die. 6 Kam's per lair, 200+ meat per kam... 20K+ per lair... sell the meat to a grinding medic or doctor and you will be loaded in no time

Kams also helped me get a stupid amount of combat xp i needed for pistol stances 4 :)
