Where do you draw the line ?

This night while playing my Shadowblade I saw something really funny out in RvR. I'm not much for dueling in RvR, but I usualy leave duelers alone and I just walk on by.

But this night I was really amazed. Near the east bridge of Crauchon I saw an Armsmen fight a Hibbie tank. Seemed like a nice duel so I decided to get some popcorn and watch the show. To my amazment the RR4 armsman got the kill in on the RR6 Hibbie. It looked close but the Arms got the best of his/her enemy.

About 5 min later I'm snuke (spelling ?) inside the keep to see if I could find someone and out comes the elf tank. As not many people were out I decided to follow him to see if I could maybe get him while he didn't expect it. To my surprise standing on the bridge was the Armsman and they go at it again. Same result the Armsman wins the duel.

As I'm a SB I camped between the far side of the bridge and the keep itself. some time later, same Elf comes along and he/she goes at it again with the same Arms.

Now... I can understand you want to duel for the best of 3. I could even live with best of 5. But this went on from around 4:50 till a second Alb showed up at around 6.50

I must say either something was going on or the RR6 Hibbie tank has to get another hobby as he sucked Bubbles cause he lost every single of their 22 duels.

Now I'm not really clear on the "rules" of dueling, but where do you draw the line between dueling and letting someone farm RP's of off you. A rr4 killing a rr6 22 times must sure be a nice slice of RP's. I mean, this isn't a whine, I'm just genuinly curious as to the opinion of you guys.

Hence the thread title : "Where do you draw the line ?"

I for myself thought it smelled of maanurre (spelling ?)

Hm... it depends.

RP farming in general is lame and being curious I even asked in RightNow. The answer was like this: "We know about duels and it's ok - please make sure not to overdo it."

So even if you go duel-crazy and REALLY want a competition like "darnit... can't I get this silly armsman down, grrrr???" at some point GOA will think you just farm RP's.

So that's that.

But you asked for my personal opinion. I think a char/player has several options to fight and I would try some other tactics if I fail with one badly. So when I duel someone and dump all my damage spells on him and style away with Polar Rift (anytimer DD, endu hog) and this doesn't work the 1st time... well, let's try a 2nd time ... maybe I was unlucky.

After the 3rd time I guess I would say ... hm... lets try something else. Maybe just melee, spam reactionaries, save on endu, try a slam and better outlive the opponent.

Ofc this depends on how badly I loose the first times. If the fights would be a clear win (3:0 or the like with my opponent spanking me hard) - no use to test that again. If it was very very close and it's just the number of parries/blocks and waepon/style proccs etc. that let my opponent win... well... I'd be tempted to give it another try.

22 fights 1o1 on the same place... with the same result... oh well. Even if I take into account you have more that just melee tactics (like ML, artifacts etc.) for me this is really a huge number.

Being stubborn in such things myself I *might* come to fight like 8-10 times, but that's it I think. I know that I once wanted to go to Agramon Island, just for a sightseeing tour. I tried like 6-7 times. Was ganked by the same guys (assisting stealther duo) over and over again and decided to do something else. I tried to swim/dive, tried to move "hidden" in groups, tried to leech speed - no idea why but they always picked me. /shrug

So well... more than 3 times: yes. More than 5... sure. More than 10 times in a row with the same tactics... that's silly.

. . . THE SAND!!!

Thats better than drawing it in the water lol.

I think I've read from somewhere, that its against the set rules by Goa to practise set duels (=crossrealming), which (by reading the description of the duel you gave), seemed organized things - maybe two real life buddies had sorted this kind of tournament thing, and in the process maybe provide some rps?

You draw the like like this:

Booom (chamber one) 3 sec Boom (chamber two)...."you just killed xxxxx"

"xxxx attacks u with her rapier the spirit protecting u returns to the spiritworld.." Boom (chamber 3) then uninteruptable Boom sec time Boom, u just killed XXXXX (read adder) then /rude /rude /rude....(loading chambers ftw). WL ftw :)

fg inc.......(grrr god damm....nooo)

Booom crash...(sound of me die)

XXXXX makes a rude gesture at u xxxxx /rofl at u xxxxx laughs at u.....etc etc../release rebuff etc out again

(in guild chat: u got killed again u gimp..)

:) rvr is fun

I don´t really duell but I always like to watch when people are going at it, but 22 times in a row smells more like farming... It´s one thing to be stubborn (up to 10 times maybe) but it´s a completly different thing to be stupid, and loosing to the same enemy 22 times is just plain stupid... But I wouldn´t mind beating up the same person 22 times if I got the chanse ;)

And dont want to be left alone :)

Dont mind getting killed, dont whine etc..

Back to topic: must be hard to prove that someone is farming rps from another toon on another account..?, but aye its kind of lame...

i have been speaking with maanurre

he like me will not back down from a duel

if someone kills me i will go back and fight him again

what u dont see is the fast he gets armsman down to like 5% hp and almost kills him

when u get someone down to 5% and u die u think damn thats close mabbe if i use this instead of that ill kill him
so u will go back fer another fisght

well so what if u die again u wiull try summit else

ok mebbe i wouldnet have stayed fer 22 duels
but he did and i know he not xfreqliming

damn been in pub to long spelling siuux

i have dueled peeps many times sometimes i win sometimes i lose

if i was farming rps i would go somehwree where the kil lspam didnt show up that must mebbe agramon as
one can wait while other ports tpo closest agreamon keep and runs acroos bridge

Yeh it got a tad annoying, so took a lil brake. I come back and don't solo that much at all now, don'teven really go rvr that much. Just spend my time organising another keep take for people to get irvr or i go exp some chars.
