when is DW nerf inc - and what shield would be best for a MERC?

Im thinking about trying 50 crush 50 shield 28 parry out after DW nerf, but what shield should i use?

I'd try 39 crush, 50 DW, 42 shield, rest in parry if you are okay with switching shield/weapon and use a crafted buckler when facing one opponent.

I had 39 slash 42 shield and 50dw quite awhile ago.

Actually quite a nice spec just can get tiresome switching shield etc all the time.

I just used a crafted shield

Quite funny spec as well.. Had some great laughs when people attacked and just switched to shield for slam followed by a flurry of DW styles. Is indeed tiresome changing though. Would be much more viable if they gave a way to quick switch

Still, i cant really comment on spec's when i went DW with split slash/thrust as well. Thats what boredom does though

All the "autotrain" classes will get a forced respec to avoid it tho.

You wont be using it for blocking or at least I didnt.


Its just for 9 second slam stun. then back to duel wield

Theres a shield that drops in labyrinth that has abs debuff proc on it.. oterwise i would choose brimstone if merc can use large ones

Shield Merc = Dead Alb

The Larger the shield is, The higher block rate.
with that being said.. Shield mercs is crap.

They are okay at lower levels but thats it.


But If you really insist, i say any Exceptional Shield medium or small,
Cuz like Cloudz said, you won't really be using it for blocking.

I still think that if you wanna use shields you should make a pally or a reaver.

And NO! mercs can't use large shields.
