However, if someone came to you in the street and forced £A lot of money into you palm, what shiny hardware toy would you go for?

For me, I think I'd head for one of the current crop of little laptops:
Maybe one of those 12.1" Powerbooks, or a Sony Z-series centrino.

Failing that, I'd have the biggest TFT screen I could get my hands on

Its basically a portable digital multitrack recorder, for film and television work. It stores the audio on a HD. I don't have the price yet, but if my current mixer dies, I might get one
