whats wrong with my Q3A

I get all the way through the opening ID splash and here it go to the menu screen and can even hear the sound fonts when i move the mouse....but everything is black.TA plays ok.
I removed everything from q3a and base3 folder that was dated from 10-7-01 and reinstalled q3a,ta,127&130PR.still the same....what am i missing?
Please help.

I was gonna say your video card may be the problem but TA works so it aint that.

Assuming it nothing stupid like the gamma is too low on the display, (My Geforce produces too dark a picture to play with default settings and needs tweaking before launching quake) I would just remove quake entirly and go for a re-install. In my experience moving stuff around insode the Quake3arena folder never does what you expect anyway.

You sure the graphics settings are the same ?

You might have a resoloution or something that your monitor doesn't support, so just gives up trying and leaves it black

Yeah could be that.....easy way to tell is if your resolution goes too high the little light on your monitor (assuming you have 1) will either change colour and/or start blinking

well i looked in the config and the res was some way up there setting....i changed it back to 1024x768 ,but still get that.whats the setting i should look for in the config to change the gamma settings.
I was told to remove pak 1-6 then reinstall quake.i tried reinstalling over what i have already but no dice.
I dont know how my config could have changed anyway....how about deleteing the config and letting Q3A put a new one there?

well i got it....i want to thank the overwhelming number of responses i got from this great site,and the ones who told me to install....didnt have to though.lol
