Whats with all the PvP whiners?

Why do so many folk in this game choose to go overt and then whine and be abusive in pm's if they are killed?

Is it just that being from a DaOC background im used to PvP and these folks are not?

As I understand it if you declare yourself overt that means you are consenting to PvP and are fair game to be attacked at anytime, anywhere, by anyone of an opposing faction, meaning you should be alert at all times and take care where you go. (though personally i dont take it into cantinas, medic centers or kill lone TEF'd folk).

Time and time again ive seen folks taking it extremely personally and acting as though shooting someone is griefer PK'ing when it is not.

If someone doesnt want to PvP or is not yet powerful enough to PvP then they shouldnt go overt, unless they are prepared to gracefully accept deaths. yes/no??

Yes, exactly

I think some peeps may be overt to use faction pets to earn more money on faction missions, especially if they're Imperial (I do!).

But like you I'm used to PvP (DAoC and Planetside ) so dieing while afk/LD being ganked by 10-1 etc is like a normal day for me

Totally agree.

Its simple. Going overt means you are declaring a side and consenting to PvP. Any overt is fair game imo. Whenver I get some combat skills together and do decide to go overt, then I wont hesitate to put any overt I see from the opposite faction into my target sights.

And if I get whooped by someone, regarless of my state (AFK, loading, hunting, doing missions etc.) then Ill accept it as is. I think some poeple want some of the benefits that go with being overt without the responsibility that goes with it.

Overt'd myself the other week to try out faction pets. Got a good few kill missions in, and then was owned by a Bounty Hunter with an LLC. Did I care?? Hell no! I even bow'd to the bloke when I found him after I cloned. I knew the risks, I accepted them, and I had no qualms about dying. Anyone who bitches would do well to remember that it was *their* choice in the first place to TEF/Overt themselves.

Had a bunch of rebel overts camping the emperors retreat for all the returning tef-ers, not impressed :/

Certainly for some of the later Emperor Retreat missions you dont actually end up with a TEF. The mobs are just standard Thugs or something and happen to be called "Rebel Sympathiser" or such like. They arent specifically factioned

Oh, and I agree with the Overt status thing - if your overt, expect to be attacked.

Going overt is like saying : COME AND GET ME REBELS, I DONT CARE!.

i mean, i dont get the ppl that whine aboute imperials coming to anchorhead, or rebs coming the the imps. its like in the movies, rebel atacks imperial, and imperial atacks rebels, live with it.

the only problem i have is with the imperial houses outside anchorhead. in the movies, they would be blasted away into nothing, but here they act as a hideoute where imps can run to after atacking some poor defenceless rebel doing missions around AH.

this should be fixes, no faction houses near AH or bestine (if that was the imperial city).
its just simply cowardly to run into a "bomb shelter" after attacking some1, escaping the lynch mob that comes after u. stand up for ur actions, have some fun, get killed in a good style, taking withb u as many as posible

i know this may sound a little strange to some of u, but thats the way i feel, dont hate me becouse of it.

and it's true about being used to dieing i'm just waiting for a new
chant of "reb zerg outside bestine" a quick kicking and then popping up at the cloning centre just like the good old days in emain.
