Player created Bounty Missions??

Did they get lost in the final build?? Do you think we're likely to see them in the future??

I personally think this would be a GREAT way to deal with PVP griefers e.t.c. (despite the apparent lack of PvP, lol) Someone keeps giving you aggro?? Put a price on their head! How many of you would like to see this (originally promised) addition to the game??

They decided not to go with the player bounty idea as it was deemed to easy to grief with it, which it would have been.

Bounty hunters have a chance of getting a player jedi as one of there bounty missions though i heard.

i heard they stopped it cos it was too hard to put in. i cant see it being a way to greef, i would of thought theyd put a limit like 1 bounty on a player per week or something.

Then you get the kiddies who make their own little blacklist of people continually putting bounties on them... fun

so a roleplayer is a kiddie, because s/he immersed them selves in the game and made a few enemies etc. but now they want those enemies killed and are willing to pay someone and they hate them so much they are willing to pay every week for that person to be killed. why are they a kiddie?

Its unconsentual PvP... how would you like it if everytime you tryed to XP or go to the med centre etc.. a little kiddie BH homes in on you, yeah! great! that sounds real fun!

Sure if they did implment it and make it 'consentual' i.e. both the hunter and the hunted both agree to it, then thats fine, its when not all invloved dont agree, then its not roleplaying... its greifing.

thinking of it in the context of reality (which I know it's not... it's a game... but here me out!)

Han pissed Jabba off by dumping his cargo, then not paying Jabba back etc. so Jabba stuck a price on his head. He didn't say to Han "By the way old mate... Mind if I send the baddest BH in the galaxy after you and freeze you in Carbonite??"

In the context of reality most of the game is whacked out.
this is mainly to do with gameplay balance.

Imagine if they made the game 'exactly' like the films, would be very unfunny.

players die in one hit, spaceships often get blown up in one hit, bounty hunters and smugglers would beat everyone but jedi, jedi would never get kiled by a non-jedi, at-sts would be unkillable unless you have the 'wookie at-st stealing' skill, you generally wouldnt be able to understand wookies etc.. 90% of imps would be overt, 90% of rebs would be covert, rilfes could fire from insane ranges.. i could go on all day, suffice to say it wouldnt work.

Ok how about this?

Han pissed Jabba off by dumping his cargo, then not paying Jabba back etc. so Jabba stuck a price on his head. BH manages to track Han down and without much effort takes hes life.
Han clones only to find out that the BH is camping the clone center. BH proceeds to kill Han over and over and over again until Hans equipments falls apart and he is forced to log off. Because Jabba has farmed for ages with hes rancors he has more than 20000000 credits and he just keeps spamming more "Kill Han" tasks.

Soo Jabba is not just a kiddie expressing hes frustration over internet but a roleplayer?

There are Jedi missions and both Jedi's and BH's are happy.
Why change that?

One thing wrong about that, Solo would lowblow-panicshot-lastditch the bounty hunter and live! :p

Well we were speaking metaphoricly (sp?) about the time jabba set a bounty on him, but anyway this is kinda drifting off subject :D

Why dont you think along the lines of what could be implemented in game already without out balancing things.

Private bouties will mean PvP, some players want absolutely nothing to do with PvP. Those that do want PvP have to be factioned. Therefore make it so that only factioned players can have boutines placed upon them.

Yep im guessing SOE have thought of that already, the only problem with it is if the target goes covert, then they would need some kind of system to tell the BH that there target has been lost temperaly, also they would have to be a bit vauge on where the target was, would be a bit boring if they had pin-point homing accuracy, ruins the fun of the 'hunt'

woot

player bounties would be a great idea! i dont believe no one has noticed the suggestion on putting a limit on how often you can be a bounty target. i mean i wouldnt mind being killed once a week just because i had a price on my head. i mean if they did it and you can maybe be a bounty target once a week and only by one person a week, i dont see what the big deal would be

hmm hmm other then just being able to put prices on someones head. it would rather be nice that certain actions you take can conclude in drawing attention.. for example doing many imperial missions and killing many rebels can lead to bounty hunter mission for rebel to kill the imp..

I think someone else already mentioned this before. but this would be a good idea to implement this.. sort of faction points with bounty missions :)

The smuggler TL has been on about something like this for a while, if smuggling missions ever get introduced and if we fail while doing one etc.. we could have a chance to get a bounty on us.

The only people who will get bounties on their heads are the "kiddies" that go around pissing people off (I haven't seen one in 4 months of SWG btw). So if you aren't a "kiddie" I wouldn't have thought you had much to worry about. I certainly have no worry to fear a bounty except off A) my guild mates and B) maybe people who read this post :)

Obviously the bounty would be a one off mission therefore preventing spamming and griefing till they get rich. Unless you had pissed off lots of people and they all put forward their own money to have you killed. This could be prevented by having a bounty mission costing at least 50k of which 25k gets taken of as jabba tax. That way it restricts bounties to people who are either rich or really need to get even in a bad way. It would certainly add something to the bounty hunter line I suppose but maybe it would be fairer if player bounties were available to all?

No, but I do agree not all just fresh wannabee bounty hunters should be able to get player hunts.. maybe something for the bounty hunters that actually spec their tiers..other then just for eye shot. I believe bounty hunter

and about the kiddo grieve thing just one small example.. you kill one sore loser kiddo in pvp.. he gets pissed off.. you own him also verbally ( which isnt a hard thing with those kiddo' s)this situation happens to often. in any game, anywhere.
= bounty on your head 24 7,

so personally i dont believe in being able to put a bounty on anyones head.

Following on from above: personally I'd say that if an overt went covert the Bounty should still stand, but no more could be added. I suppose the two players involved (Hunter and Prey) could be given their own 'min-faction', ie just containing them, and TEF'd to each other.
