What solo class?...

Whats the best solo class for a guy who's new to Exc/Hib, but doesn't want to be a caster?.....

I've heard tell of these 'bladeshade's' and they sound intruiging, but Im not sure what kind of spec to use...

What about Bards or Blademasters... how are they at soloing? (any specs would be a help). I've already tried Hero's and Champions before, but not for a while... so they could be an option....

Any advice you guys could give would be greatly appreciated :)

Hmm... Probably ranger or sth, if you got the cash for good equipment/arrows. Or a nature druid, haven't tried one, but they seem to solo consistently with no/little downtime.

Otherwise, dunno really as you've excluded casters already ;p

Nature druid is ownage for solo on low levels, on higher levels the best solo choice is a ranger in crafted gear(preferably with a buffbot, but can do fine without).

But, as always, solo always sucks :p

I`d say a champ even tho u siad u pld one, if u get a LW spec with valour , get some end pots and u can solo for ages

Just soled a ranger to 50, was very hard work but very rewarding, hit the depths of despair at some points, exp can go really slow on some days.

I would consider the nature druid out of the suggestions made so far, if you make it to 50 you always have the option of respeccing to group spec or buffbot.

Rangers or champs solo well and are worth considering, but neither are as wanted in rvr as a druid atm ;)

I personally don't find any melee types effective soloers, unless they can heal themself up. The time it takes to regen health is... Lets just say a less attractive feature of the class.

I have a ranger, got her to 24. But its hell affording armour/weapons/bow/arrows etc. costs a fortune.

Id say Valewalker

50 Pierce/CD, rest optional is the only way to go as a bm :)

Nature/Regrowth Druids are great for soloing, plus you've also got the option of grouping if you need/want to.
Rangers solo well, but apart from guildies and friends you are unlikely to get any groups.

i'd still say animist, ive just started mine, hes at lvl 8 now i think but they rock for PvE and will be awesome for seiging in RvR!!

i dont really count em as casters as such as you dont really get any chance of dying (unless you suck ass! at playing it)
i've take reds and oranges will little downtime!! well worth a look imo.

Also a Valewalker is easy to solo, pull you mobs from a distance with lifetaps and then melee it to death.
I mainly soloed both a VW and a ranger and i must say that a VW is much easier. Cause with my VW i could do oranges quite easily where as with my ranger i needed to hit all my bow shots from max range to have a reliable chance to win

Cause I iz teh l33t etc!!! :p

Nah just to have done it man. The tougher the test the bigger and better the "OMFG i did it" feeling :)

Edit: plus there aint many bards around who can solo oranges/reds ;)

Try battle druid, if u want to solo, have done well with my
druid so far ,) but if u going for RvR grp then my spec is not
the best but it´s fun to hunt down stealthers with this char.

Spec is 25 nurt, 24 reg, 41nat

What kind of spec should I use for a solo bard? - it sounds like fun :) Also, what should I raise early.... i see many spec saying 50 this 27 that, but they never say "Dont raise that till past level x .... youll be gimping yourself...."

OK Here goes

With any final spec you want to be looking at this for bg1 (level 24). I had lots of fun with it:

18 weapon (i prefer blades)
18 music (some nice castable mezzes, DD and first small area lul)
13 nurture for speed 2

With this spec i used to camp bridges, wait to be PA'd then kill the offending inf :p

OK the don't raise that till blah bit is nurture. It's a balance. You raise nurt you'll be more group friendly but your ability to solo xp will suffer. I raised my nurt early (cause i'm a speed freak :p) and as a result had a hard time in the late 30's xping and didn't start to get back on track till the mid 40's (with the extra points from half dings). If your really goin to solo xp i'd keep it at 12 or 23 till fairly late on.

OK here's what i recommend for a 50 spec.

36 blades
44 music
33 nurt

--------------------------------

OR if you can be arsed

43 blades
37 music
33 nurt

to RR5 then respec to

36 blades
44 music
33 nurt

You have a harder time with the first one in the early RR's but less feckin around.

You'll note NO regrowth spec for the cures. They are nice to have but solo i use em rarely in RvR. I'd have much prefered with hindsight to have the points in blades.

Tips:

Get SC'd early (even a shitty set), for a few 100 gold makes life much easier.

Keep those melee resists high. Mythic did everything they could to make this class the damsel in distress class with the idea you should run away from everything as your "cool thing" (/FU mythic btw :p).

Pay attention to the fact your wearing RF. Slash mobs are your thing. Stay away from blunt.

RA's:

Purge (always first and a must for any char)
AM (it's still shite to any bard with more than 1200 hp's but better than nothing and is fairly cheap compared to IP)
Toughness (more hp's)
Aug Con (blah)
Aug Str (blah)
Aug Dex (blah and looking to go MoP/MoB)
Aug qui (blah and looking to go dodger)
AoM (more body resists for those mincer fights ;) )
Longwind (you'll spend alot of time twisting around. This trades off against your end 4 for alot longer twist distance without rest and costs *gasp* 1 rsp ;) )

Buffbots:

Sorry if this aint your thing but solo RvR now is all about buffbots. If you don't like it roll a group class because you'll get owned all the time of those who do like buffbots.

I dinged my 50 made 2 RvR solo runs then bought a second account. A fairly well known mincer just made the whole thing a joke. He spam laughed me unbuffed and unable to kill him with his 50 cleric buffs. Few weeks later same guy got owned off me with my brand new sparkly 40+ spec druids (i didn't note any laugh spam on this occasion but did note the half a page of buff drop spam. Such is life :p).

GL with the char ;)
