What RVR classes does Hiberna need mostly?

Me and a few friends might be starting on Exc/hib for some fun and we are wondering what classes are needed for RVR atm..

We was thinking about going bard/hero/bm but we ain't sure if there are many BM groups around on excal, so maybe the BM should swap to a pbaoe class instead or something else that is needed.. Any advice would be helpful..(the 3 classes up there was just an idea, we might go for something else depending on the replies here).

Think that BM's are the new fotm of hibernia, everyone seems to want them. Imho it would be nice to see a pbaoe group with a few nice s/s tanks :)

I think Bards or Druids are pretty attractive atm

imho hibernia is very balanced, you could make whatever you wish (apart from nightshade, ranger, champion, animist or mentalist) and have np getting into any rvr group.

note: the classes listed about CAN get into random RvR groups, but you may find it alot harder to get into RvR guilds with said classes

The idea that everyone in hib is running FOTM BM grps is a fallacy.

Pure tank groups do rvr, if thats whats available to a guild at a certain time.

BUT on excal in my experience, mixed and pb grps are more common and highly effective if played well. The PBbox technique really does work in many situations.

We are the caster realm and tho peeps whine about our gimp casters - our casters pwn every day.

Make a s/s hero, bm or mana eld if u dont like support but hib always needs good droods and bards.

If you want to do something fun, roll an animist. They are quite good fun in RvR and by the time you get one to 50, people will start to appreciate their value in RvR. In the right hands, they are overpowered. In most people's hands they are merely useful.

Druids and bards are high in demand as always, although as overall as Nuked said, hib is fairly balanced.

Dont think Animist arr any good in rvr though compared to other mages though

Animists have the same problems as void mages before void mages got tweaked. VERY slow spells, and unlike void mages they dont really fit in to a pb group.

They are great fun for camping milegates, or keep defence.

They are not a strong group member, and are a complete mana drain on the party. They cant pb, they cant debuff energy, all those bomber pets point a straight line back to their caster.

If animists where any good in roving fg rvr then our server would have a active animist above brehon:-

The problem is that animist (like the stalker classes) is its one of those classes that doesnt figure in an 8 person setup. With 16 or 24 people an animist is nice.

Yeah thats what lets them down, the slow spells :( Camping gates or defending keeps they shine in though. Would like to see a group with 6 lvl50 animists, druid and bard camp AMG whilst the zerg passes through

Slow spells?

Try to group with your friendly animist and youll get higher than brehon animist.

Slow both in cast time and impact time.

Shrooms cost something like 6 seconds to cast, thats enough for a tank to see you on the horizon, run up and start interupting before a single shroom is laid. Or more often than not get a single shroom down then die.

Slow in that their bomber pets fly slowly to their target. DD's / PBs are direct, once cast the target is damaged instantly. A void mage bolt takes some time to get to a target but you cant run. I have seen people sprint from animist bombers with speed, very funny, far too much warning that they are getting nuked, and too much information about where it came from.

Animist RAs' are weak, animists are forced to spend all their RA's making up for their class deficiencies, i.e. sucky mana usage, they mostly have to stockup on mcl2/wp, silly level of serenity or RA's that reduce their appaling cast times down to a reasonable speed.

I have grouped a lot with animists, our guild has one of the top 5 animists on the server, I think she might be rr4 but is inactive atm. I have played in a lot of random groups with animists.

Camping milegates can be fun, but is not everyones cup of tea watching patterns of shrooms appear and die for an hour only to get a few scraps off the stupid albs that will blunder into a shroom field.

Often I find myself in a random group with an animist, and someone invites a high rr player, they usualy take one look at the group setup, say 'soz no animists' and leave...,

They are a fun and unique class with all types of possibilites, but if someone asked me what class was needed on hib I wouldnt recommned one.

Looking again i would be tempeted to go:-

bard
s/s hero
reg/nurt druid

With random groups the hardest bits to find are druid and bard, once you got that sorted you can make a pb group or a melee group very easily. BM's are strong, but if you made a s/s hero druid bard then you have a very nice support core which, hopefully all being friends, would be very strong.

Sorry i thought this game was about FUN :)

Last time i checked mushrooms take 5s and 4s with druid buff.

Tanglers are useful.

Bombers are really usefull. Because of their delay and traveling speed.

And if you are looking into animist rps you have to take account that Animist get half rps from kills (50%) if they use their pets.
