You forgot one, Porsche 959, one of the greatest cars in my opinion.

Agreed m8. I really like some of the old ones, before they got all frog-like.

But I based the choices from off-the-shelf models. I'm considering getting a 4S at the end of the year / start of next year, so have been looking at the uk Porsche website to see what used car deals were around.

FH polls limits you to 10 choices. Some of the really nice models are rare or absurdly expensive.

I'd probably go for the cayenne. It needs some tuning and bodykit work, but it's nice.

Only because i don't want porsche anymore.

Well, I looked it all up again and it was a tough choice, but in the end I voted for the Cabrio. Now let me explain why.

I did it mostly by exclusion and I started like this:

-Boxter S
-Cayenne

The Cayenne looks utter shit and Porsche is simply not a constructor for family cars. If you want a car like that, go for something better. The Boxter is only a watered down version of the others, which means nothing bad, but if you have the money, go for a better one.

Now there was the next choice:
-Cayman
-Carrera GT
-Carrera 4S (normal / cabrio)
-911 Turbo
-911 GT3

First the GT3 had to go, because the interior looks less good if you ask me, so that was one less (phew).

So then I checked what the Cayman was like and although it looked very good, there was something missing: 3 instruments instead of the usual 5, which looked a tad non-Porsche, compared to the other models =)

That was the point where I would've loved a multiple-choice poll, cause everything from this moment on is purely based on power and fun. You might even add the Cayman to the list, cause it's a really good looking car aswell, which makes the decision so hard.

So why did I vote 4S Cabrio? It's gonna be summer now and then and I don't know about speed limits in England, but from what I know the crazy Germans (i.e. us =) ) are the only ones without speed limits on highways, so might aswell go for a car that gives you some pleasant moments when driving around on a sunny day =)

Else you can brake it down to pure power. The Carrera GT stomps everything into the ground and also has superior technical statistics, which makes it very attractive, but it's very expensive. Next in line is the 911 Turbo, which is much cheaper and still offers a very good engine.

EDIT:
as colors I advise the following:
-Arctic Silver Metallic (got that on my parents car and it looks good, you have to check Porsche's interpretation of the color though)
-Cobalt Blue (have to check how it looks, but I think it's sweet as metallic)

Invite me and let me drive once you bought it :p

Like I said, I based the poll choices on current off-the-shelf availability, so regrettably I had to omit a lot of the older models.

I'm not sure many ppl would respond to a pre-1980's classic sports car poll. IF someone wants to start one, be my guest :) You're even more spoilt for choice there. What make of car do you go for ? Ferrari ? Porsche ? Italian or US ? The 10-item poll FH limit is far to small IMO

don't listen to the poll though, the GT3 interior looks bad and a cabrio is more versatile =)

Guess most ppl clicked without even checking the cars :p and GT3 ofc sounds great =) even that the Carrera GT is much stronger than the GT3 =)

Btw, I just checked the Cayenne out of interest and even if I don't like the "sportscar on high wheels" principle, it seems like a very nice car if you got a family to drive around =) Especially if you take the sand colored interior, it looks very bright and nice.

EDIT: bah, you made me check what these cars cost, now I want one, but I don't think I could even afford a Boxster =)

EDIT2: /cry irl....I need money

we got a cayenne s, not the most attractive of cars but damn is it quick for a 4x4, interior is superb though as we got the s version suspension is a bit stiff for the country roads but other than tht it's actually a great car once you get past the looks..
And totally agree with liloe if you want just a brute car with basically no interior stuff get the gt3, but if you actually wanna hold onto your kidneys and like a bit of comfort go for 4s, although the 911 turbo is the quicker car it's price tag also reflects this.

And to Dorimor1 ye jags are alrite, but porsche can do basically everything a jag can and better, and yes we've had a jag befor you ask.

Ah, but the Carrera GT is just a bit too flash for me. The GT3 is a nice stripped down 911, which is why the interior isn't as nice. Everything has been done to save weight.

Jags are ok. My next door neighbour has one. An old XJ.

Given the choice I would choose Porsche over Jag any day.

Why the hell would you want to own a porsche...

So many better cars out on the market, more powerful, better looking, more comfortable, classier...

It always seems to me that Porsche drivers are trying to compensate for something...

Porsche 911 Turbo 4 life!

And the latest addition to the family is not to be trifled with Imo.

http://car-reviews.automobile.com/Porsche/specs/2007-porsche-911-turbo-preview/1780/

Whats even more impressive is the progress made to automatic transmissions. 3.7s to 60mph, which is 0.2 faster than manual o_O curse those new ultra fast automatics. (big fan of manual transmission :p)

Its fact that porsche is becomming more and more of a common mans flashy car. Do not, however, think this makes it any less of an awesome machine.
