What makes a map good, and what makes a map bad?

As with the other 2 posts, I'm trying to get a bit more than my personal perspective on what makes a quality map, before I embark on trying to create one :-]

A good map is one where you can't get constantly tarded by llama camping spots :)

Coincidentally probably all D0lly's fave maps :p

Good

Map with many areas to explore.
Places with open and closed areas, to suit Snipers and Close range fighting.
Buildings with different levels to explore.
Map that isnt large to a point where you get lost.
Places for Snipers to nest out of site.

Bad

Map that is too large
Too many Sniper Nest'
Map that has a lot of dark corners

hmm thats all i can think of at this time. hm

Well if it's too large it's hardly going to be good is it? :D

Heres are meh thoughts on the matter.

Good Maps:

Nice looking, not to dark, not to bright.

2-4 main routes across the map, with some interlinked.
A few obvious camping spots per route and on the bombsites.
A few sneaky spots.
A sniping point for each team, possible two.
Two, possibly three ( three only if very close to another one ) bombsites.
Not too big, not too small - eg - assault & piranesi.
Plenty of room for tactics, and decoys etc.

Bad maps: The opposite of good maps lol.

only one or two main routes, with little cover.
awful looking - ie too dark, too bright, crap textures.
No camping spots, no sniping points, no mix of open/closed areas.
