What is letting Mythic down in Midgard

I know this is not news, but I need to vent it.

I only play Midgard. I have 4 chars, the highest is a 41 Shadowblade.

Since Trigali (the SB) reached 39-40, the only place where he can kill with a faint hope of getting visible xp over the course of one night is Malmo.

I repeat: the only place. The pull rate in Raumarik is not nearly good enough, and the problem quickly comes back to what follows anyway.

At earlier levels, there are a numbers of different places where one can go to kill different mobs. Now killing mobs is fun for a while, then gets fairly dull, and chagning location and mob (which hopefully will have a different behavior pattern and require a change of strategy when pulling) makes the dullness go away for a while.

At 40 this disappears. The only thing you can kill are those doggie-shaped things, over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over again. In the same place.

On top of that, to make matters even worse, as this is the only place, everyone wants to go there and we have a list system which actually PREVENTS one from playing for hours on end, until somone makes the 'executive decision' that you are allowed in. We all know the list is very different from a queue: no order of arrival stands.

A surprisingly high number of people seem to be able to put up with spending tens of real time hours clicking relentlessly on the same button. I bow to them. It requires the same frame of mind to make it to legendary crafter or something.

But I can't. So what do I have to look forward to ? RvR can only be pleasant after lvl 45 now, given the strenght of the opponents out there.

What it means for me is that I can only get to the next stage of the game by putting up with a very large number of hours during which I will not have any fun at all. I understand why (and I fully agree with) getting to level 50 has to be long and hard to get the reward. I don't think it should be boring.

I don't think I am prepared to pay a subscription in order not to have fun.

I agree totally Trig - in fact last night I was thinking this after a reasonable session leveling my skald in Darkness Falls.

I have been down to Malmo with both my hunter and healer but I am really not looking forwards to going back.

The only other alternative is probably Darkness Falls then which at least has a variety of mobs.

I can't say I agree Trigali. I spent only about 2 levels worth of learning in Malmohus in the last 10 levels. I went to Darkness, Yggdra, Uppland, Jamtland, Raumarik, Vanern, Spindelhalla and there must be more places as well. I went solo, in groups, in odd groups, in classic groups. I found a good group in Darkness let me learn as quickly as I would in Malmohus and while it requires Darkness to be open and a group to form, at least I could kill things down there while waiting rather than waiting on a list.

I also went a lot slower than almost everyone around me. Someone joined my guild when I was in my early 40s, they began a character and reached 50 ahead of me. <shrugs> It can be a grind post-40 but it does not have to be no fun. Nor do we need to keep on the myth that Malmohus is the only place for learning. Malmohus is probably the quickest, and in my experience the least fun.

I would suggest df from 41-50 doing diamond mobs if not shredders in various areas of df you should lv pretty quick.

Malmo is indeed probably the fastests exp, but if's far from the only place to go for decent exp.

People already mentioned vanern, raumarik, frontiers and spindel and they are all very viable and different from one another to hunt in.

DF is probably the best of all but it also requires you got a group that is on it toes because it cna be a tricky place :)

I haven't made 50 on any chars yet, and i never got to 50 on US either, but I am in no hurry to get there even tho pratically everyone in RvR is orange to me.

I really think it is time to go US style in Malmo and allow more than 2 groups per camp spot.

I was in one of these groups in the lair before I dinged 50 and XP was similar to just 2 groups because the pull rate was amazing, add to this that it was SOOO much more interesting.

What good is it doing our realm with half of the level 40-49's logged on a hill in malmo? Maybe XP would be a little lower with more than 2 groups pulling at each spot but you will never have to sit on that hill again. So over your period in malmo you will spend less time there overall.

Another thing I see is that people often get stuck at around level 42, they dont spend hours and hours on their PC each night so they join the queue and have to log before they get in the group, night after night. US style malmo would eliminate this as well.

So what I say is, bring on US style malmo, for the good of the realm and you.

It would greatly help levelling through the forties if we had a few new bind spots near raum/malmo/vanern and horse routes from Gna to vanern/malmo.

I love vanern but getting there can be a real pain.

I avoided malmo as much as I could

went in there at lvl 41, straight into a group... this was about 3 months ago now... bloody from SC still wasn't 50 :D

Spent about 5 hours there, almost got to 42.. then had to log

Couldn't be arsed with lists, went spindel and soloed there. Did some joint hunts with DH in Raumarik and vanern killing fenrirs and jotuns. Not bad xp, considering kephan was lvl 50 :D

Then I hung about in DF (had just openend), doing shredders, or soloing temptors. At this stage, I was 43.

Blej messaged me in spindel, asking if I wanted to come with him to a malmogroup.... sure

So of we went to kill mobs near the lake.... quite ok xp, but after a few hours, it was dull as hell.
We decided a change of location.... and went emain and killed grannies and levithans for another 2-3 hours. Hey, I was 44 and a bit now...

Solo tempors/DF groups for another level, then I really didn't have the patience to solo anymore, so I went into malmohus.

Got to 50 relatively quickly, and while staying sane.

There are an amazing number of ace xp spots out there... just find other people like you who can't be arsed with malmo

The best place for early forties xp without going to Malmo is Vanern. Raumarik is good if you have patience.

I spent a great deal of time at these places. I spent a bit of time at the Yar spot but most of the time I was outside of malmo just having fun. It's amazing how quickly it goes when you are having fun.

I exped LOADS on grogans and goborchends in Emain, but that isnt really viable nowadays, as it's zerg territory. They also gave quite a nice coin. (And a pair of AF 98, Warden-only, scale boots :D)

Also did some jotuns in Vänern, not great exp, but a good laugh: "Hey Mr. 20foot Jotun, I, the dreaded 6 foot Ardrias will now bash you!"

Raumarik: Fenrirs can be interresting too, but the spawn is too darn slow.
Pulling wraiths from the Revenant Camp can be nice, and also gives you a chance to get a Band of Ice ring, which almost everyone wants.
Sleipnerssons are nice too, with a group that can deal lots dmg, coz these guys have hp like a.... horse....

Yggdra: I'm not sure of the cons on the mobs in Fenrir fort, but these have a fast spawn, and cfh which sets up some fun exping :) Theres also various camps of liches and wraiths, some in Odins.

Malmö: There are so many more things than lair to do, but from my experience, of the expers today, everyone only wants to get 50. Reason may be they wanna be UBERKEELAHOMGPLZITAMZOMGROFLPWN . I might be wrong.

Anyway, H stones is a gravely overlooked place, fast spawns and good drops, make this a more than decent place to exp, and only takes ~5 people to get going.
Quite close by, you have attendants, and a few named ones as well. They call for help like mad, so it's often quite tense, which is only fun, because then you see what the group is made of.
Lake area also has attendants, and a few other named ones.

Hmm... wrote quite a lot of shit here I see.... Well, the point was to point out that there are more exping places than lair to visit, and at those places, you can also have fun.

All of the above is true.

However it does not take anything away from the fact that the only way to level up is, basically, to stay scotched at the monitor for hours on end, endlessly clicking on 1 or 2 buttons.

Give us some decent AI-mobs at least, so that the fighting is not so damn repetitive !!!!!! That would be great. But I won't have the patience to wait for SI I think.

Only way to make it happen is to, well.... make it happen! Somebody has ta take the initiative and get down there and talk to the ppl and get the show on the road. You seem eager to try it out so why dont you do it?

Some tips:
Everybody should stand practically on top of eachother, even if you are 40+ ppl make them all stand at the same spot. This will make the drakulvs run to the same spot so ae damagespells hurt them as much as possible.

Healers use single target stun until all drakulvs are standing on top of eachother. There will always be one or two drakulvs left behind and you want them to stand as closely together as possible before starting to use aestun.

Puller should have the next bunch of drakulvs incoming the second the last one of the previous pull drops (or even quicker than that). The puller should run and stand in the big bunch of ppl when he has pulled so that all drakulvs run to that spot. So he will have do quite a bit of running. Also its nice to have two or more pullers that can take turns pulling when one runs low on power, this will lead to less downtime.

Well other than that its just nuke/hit away as much as possible on any of the 4 drakulvs standing there looking silly, and yes thanes you ARE allowed to use your hammers  :)

Thats some tips for the actual exping procedure, now someone else will have to make it happen because i've had my share of malmö with my only 25+ character. :D But remember that anyone can make it happen, noone can say that you can or can not do this if enough ppl wanna do it. (but remember that its very rude to steal an xp spot from someone) :)

US style has been applied more and more lately, and it's fun to let everyone exp. The downside is that some unlucky volunteer runie often has to pull ;)

Stick at it :)

XP rules are changed once again in the up-coming patches. No-one likes to spend hour-upon-hour clicking buttons just for the sake of "oo i made a bub!"

New changes to group XP and faster Xp'ing for 40-45, or was it 45-50 :)

On hibbie atm, everyone seems to go from Corus Mines (L30ish-L45, [top mobs r low 50s]) to Cursed Forest. At 50, the 3 baffing Fins are red-purp. XP is okish.

But you could do better going to Cullen, XP is easlily double (about 160m per pull at 49). But no-one seems to go anymore, a habit has been set-up whereby ppl go Corus to Cursed Forest.

Getting two Cullen takes typically 2 horse rides, about 10mins journey from anyone logged at Frontiers Keeps.

Perhaps the same sort of thing happen in your Realm, so-called easy high lvl XP - only easy coz it's more convienent. A bit more effort and you could be doubling your XP.

I can only recommend malmo, yes its a pain to fo through, but the exp is mad.
You can log in and out there, and get a group, you dont even have to look for people, and if you got a steady group in vanern and the healers leave, everybody needs to go back gna or something, to either pull something else or get a new member for group.
Glyph, my main, was lvl 43 before i hit malmo, and that took damn many hours in vanern.

I took my RM to malmo on a monday at lvl 40, i had a week off, so i went there everyday, signed into queue, took a bath etc, and when i came back i almost always had a spot. By sunday i was lvl 48, i dont think that is possible anywhere else in midgard

Well, i can see its hard to get into a group late at night as most people are online there and everybody wants in

I did a lot of XPing in Malmo too. I did a fair bit in Vanern and Raumarik, and other places in Malmo such as H-Stones and the Lake, but spent most of my time at the Lair/Yar.

The thing I noticed about Malmo is people that can be online in the daytime will XP much faster than people (like me) that can't log in until the evening (due to work or school etc) - not so much due to the longer time they spend online, but because they get the groups first. On most mornings there tends to be a group meeting up in Gna to head for malmo, but if you log on in the evening after work then it's likely everyone is already in Malmo, and if you happen to have logged out in Malmo the previous night, then you will have to be put on that big long list

Anyway I found Malmo the best place to XP to be honest (but DF wasn't here at that time, don't know if that's any better).

DF is (IMO) far better than Malmo in terms of exp+drops+cash.

The only problem with DF is the availability of groups. In a good group of 8 doing Nightmares, Succubus and Knights the exp flows. Where it differs from Malmo is that there isn't always people to fill up spots when one becomes available.

Until the server population increases Malmo will always be the only reliable 40+ exping spot in Midgard.

well, apparently a lot of people are displeased with the long waiting lists in Malmo, which is understandable. What I don't understand is why those people who are waiting don't try to form new groups... I was xping with Tormax there the other day, and when I asked the listholder how many people were on it, he replied 35. Dunno guys, but wouldn't it make more sense of making some new groups with those people then?

Oh yes, the other day someone told me that they can't make new groups most of the time, cuz listholders won't tell them names on the list...wtf is up with that? That's one of the shittiest things I heard tbh, what do those people try to accomplish by not allowing others to xp instead of waiting? :puke:

Most of the time the option to make a 2nd grp isnt there because of no reliable CC :(
