What happens to gorre once the NF is out?

Hi bods at GOA,

any chance that we could use GORRE as a test server, like the US have pendragon?

And allow us to /charcopy to the server.

Not sure they'll do that tbh, not like we need to test stuff on euro version, unless its for personal stuff.

Pendragon is for on going tests, so its changed daily or even hourly to test the minor fixes and changes in the game. Gorre on the other hand is to test full patches received from Mythic, and to help translate it fully into the 3 languages (soon 4 lanuages grrr ).

Also the machine itself is not the best one to keep in permanent use, and Im sure the chaps at GOA use it for other things, so tbh, its highly unlikely it will remain open.

Wasn't that specifically for the E&E munchkin's who actually test the patches before they come out? Assuming it is still working it probably just isn't displayed when you login using the 'normal' client (thats just an educated guess going off the fact that you can't see Excal/Pryd when trying to login to Gorre atm)


And I seriously doubt Gorre will stay up when NF goes live, like the above quoted said. Pend is for ongoing testing, the Gorre testing has just been for this patch. So get your fun and testing of new specs in while you can because I don't think we'll be seeing another oppertunity like this anytime soon.

Gwynedd is the second test server, Lothian is also used for promos and various stuff

yeap... basically it gets handed back to the developement team for the pretesting of the next patch. Once it has a running patch then eyes and ears get called in to find the big embarasing bugs.. little things like missing keeps, keep doors not taking damage, spells not working. Then if you are really lucky and goa have something resembling a working server, open testing begins and you guys are let loose on it( this isnt always the case)

Either that or the Goa devs just turn it back into their office Quake server

As for the promotion, is that still going, or did the two ppl who tried it out leave eventually?

as goa aint allowed to change the game code a test server would do nothing exept lowering the numbers of players on the other servers.

Tbh a test server with char copy ability would be great (I remember test server a few patches back let u copy char and test it all)

so the server is as usabel as the info gathered from exc or any other "real" server. exept that it might be different buggs as its using different(older) hardware...
not much use for it anyway.

Once the NF test is over, Gorre goes back to being our internal test server for everything from patch tests to coding practice and event testing. As we start working on the next patch pretty much as soon as the last one goes live, there isn't ever a time when we don't need an internal test server. Even when we aren't actively testing new patches, we are testing fixes or trying to reproduce reported bugs so that we can identify the causes.

Myhtic are too busy fixing their own to step back and solve our problems, and tbh the amount of bugs we have is nothing compared to the US, mr smartypants. Be greatful for what we have, it aint as bad as you think.
