What graphics card to get?

I have a voodoo 2 card at the moment and want to upgrade it to something decent. Age old problem, I have a limited budget but would like to get the best card for my money. I can afford about £150 and just need it for playing quake3.

Anyone got any ideas ?
- I was thinking about the Geforce2 from Hercules (Prophet2 mx)

Will I be able to play quake3 with little slow down because i get a big slowdown when I have more than 3 bots with my Voodoo2 ?

Yeah, the GEForce2 MX is prolly the best card for that money, but I'd say it's worth getting a GTS if you possibly can.

As for bots, a lot of this comes down to CPU beefiness. What CPU do you have at the moment? It may be worth considering an upgrade for that.

Yeah, a geforce 2 MX or a DDR GeForce 1, DDR GF1 being better for higher res's. Both are around the same price if you look around a bit... DDR GF1's have been seem for 110 inc VAT and some MX's for less than that MX's are SDR memory tho, not the best for higher res's and colour depths.

I have a AMD K62 500. Would it be better to get a better graphics card or a better CPU for the same money ?

Better vid card tbh because for 150 quid you'd have to get a new mobo and CPU to make it worthwhile as K6-2's are a bit shit so getting a faster one won't do much. If you have an AT case and wanted a new mobo for say an AMD Duron which is a nice CPU for the cash, you'd then need a new case and PSU which is more money...

So, vid card is the best option and should give you a few more fps
