OK pay cheque has arrived and it's time I upgraded ... basically this is going to be my only upgrade before ultimately buying a new PC - I have £200-£300 to spend - my motive: improve game gfx, frames rates, increase playable resolution, reduce fogging.

Is a new GFX card the solution? What GFX card do you lot recommend?

My system spec is:

* P3 1GHz
* 128MB Ram (upgrading to 512MB as part of my overhaul)
* GE Force 2 GTS 64MB

Ive just bought a Brand fucking new Inno3d GF3 Ti200 for £70 from Ebay.

Havnt tried it yet, but it looks spinky, and the reviews are good.

I would have prefered a 4200, but bang for buck I reckon Ive got a deal here.

:)

Thanks for the feedback guys!!

One more question - If I go for a GeForce 4 Ti4600 - will I see significant difference over the TI4200, or will the performance increase not justify the extra cost?

I got a Leadtek WInFast A250LE TD MyVIVO GeForce4 Ti4200 128MB from ebuyer.com, it was around £130, works great for BF1942, best price/performance IMO, and advisable to get a 128MB nowdays.

I've got exactly the same card as cama, it's dandy!

If you want the best card possible, go for the Leadtek GeForce 4 Ti4600 128mb.

except for £82 you could have had a Radeon 9000 from HiTech which is about 40-50% quicker right across the board! :p

Ti4200 easily represents the best on the price/performance stakes - though XP4 from Trident is sizing up well and Radeon 9000 could gain some ground with the new 7.77 catalyst 2.3's
