What does it mean if a player glows green every time you shoot them in Q2DM??

Ok, I know blue, I know red, but WTF does glowing green mean???

I was playing Q2DM on BW FFA and Minos recently, and every time I hit someone (one player, and one only this applied to), he/she glowed green, and I never once managed a kill on this person (and most of the time I had me trusty hyber blaster with me).

Can ne1 tell what this means?

Or then you might be, depends what map you're playing.

A plyer glowing green when you shoot them means they are using the powersheild. The sheild requires cells to use and will stop working when they haven't got any left.

No cause for worry unless there isn't a powersheild available on the level. Keep in mind a powersheild is automatically given and used with the 'give all' command so make sure you're playing on a server with no cheats (which is almost all of them :])

Don't think any of the Q2DM maps have powersheilds. Anyone know for certain?

Q2Dm8 (The Warehouse) is the only DM map with a powersheild.

Methinks this server could be a cheats paradise .
This is the second post on about this server today on about cheating .
Played on this server also a couple of days ago and got the impression that a certain players railing was just a little to good .
If you notice when the you enter the game there is not the usual ratbot test you get with most servers .
PS is on DM8 only .
The only person the cheats are really cheating are themselves .

Thought Minos had the BW admin proggy?

There is a few lithium servers however where almost all players are using bots. I connected to one 2 weeks ago with a ratbot just to make sure (naughty but I did call myself Botman and declare it when I entered).

Worked no probs and I didn't get kicked. When I realised I was shooting out my ass (surprised me cuz I've never used a bot before) I wondered why noone complained. So I asked them all, and what do you know?

All but one player (there were 8) admitted to be using Ratbot or Zbot.
The other player promptly left.

Now, am I stupid or is there no point whatsoever in playing with bots? I found it extremely tiresome then left.

Minos DOES run BwAdmin, it Does have Ratbot detection features and is as safe as anyother server. You prolly see more bots because its also an extremely popular server. Do not think anyone is a bot until you know it. There are some scary railers around. The only test for bots is to chasecam them, the bots are easily detectable becasue the view suddenly flicks round to rail or blast or whatever, really flicks quick. Im personally a damned good railer when i try and there are lots of people that are as good and better then me at it, trust me, ive been beaten by them :)

I only play on servers with the BWadmin so it doesn't worry me :)

Maybe it was another server i was on at the time .
All the same cheats are cheating themselves as much as everyone else.
One other thing where do ppl get these bots from not from respectable sites like BarrysWorld .Probably from some dodgy website .

Who says a virus checker is always 100% effective when you scan it .

Minos is a top server and often has some very good players on it that are not bots. However Ive seen bots used on it. Other FFA servers I stay clear of tbh there are a lot of bot users out there and not all servers run the BW_Admin dll.

Minos runs the BW_Admin but some bots still work on it! arrG i can't understand why ppl need to use them.

DM8 your bound to see several ppl using the PS :) just keep em off the armour and cells and ware away the PS with a cg or SS :p

I wish people wouldn't just automatically assume someone is cheating just because they get beaten...

Using powershield in a public FFA game is a bit lame (especially if it's an LPB doing it, because it essentially makes them invincible unless they're REALLY crap). It ISN'T cheating though.

Chimp Choker: if you want to see if someone is cheating with the rail, just spectate and cam them. It soon becomes obvious if someone is cheating, or if they are just good with the railgun. I suggest you watch someone like Durzel, Exor or Hexa if you want to see how good railing can get.

I don't assume people are cheating when I get beaten. To think they must be would be a bit big headed.

When someone's shooting rockets outta their ass tho, that does start me wondering :)

Thing that pisses me off is on BW 12 player, I get the BFG and start shooting ppl to shit and some players really get soo annoyed and call me a sad fuck. OK it's true but as long as I have fun, who cares.

I see a lot of people accused of being bots on the servers ( myself not being one of them :), most of them are just really good players, but if bots can get onto the servers then the doubts creep in when you are constantly railed by an HPB with a ping way over 200.
Using the bfg and quad on dm6 is a sure fire way of getting a lot of frags , not winning friends :) I myself believe that if the weapon or armour or quad are available on the map then it is fair if people choose to use them . What I dont like are players who use the Invulnerability on dm3 in FFA and people who use the quad in FFA when there are only 3 or 4 players on the server, and the PS on dm8 ( though I have used it myself occaisionally :)

I've kicked ass with a rail and never been accused of using a bot :)

Me with plus 200 ping but then I was on a roll and usually fail miserably trying :)

being accused of being a bot is always funny tbh :) and you can always tell who the real bots are by watching through there eyes,

As an lpb I think its a tad lame when other GOOD lpb's whore the quad , use the bfg or PS but hey each to there own Im happy with just a RG and CG :)

Well I’m sure you yourself can Orion. However experience suggests that a lot of people don't know how to check. Moreover a good number think they do know what to look for but by their remarks obviously don't.

You're right about smiling though - no point letting it get to you.

You get bots on Clara and Netcom well you used to I don't play there anymore. But by Observing bots you can tell by there railing , pulling off rail after rail at stupid angles through gaps in the ceiling without even looking.

Being railed 5 times in a row with no misses ! ok so its possible but not when your trying to make the opponent miss.

arrG and those sad ppl that just use the machine gun or CG to make out there not using bots Its easy to tell.

But even a bot user can be beaten in FFA 9 times out of 10 there crap and to get to a rail there gonna DIE alot :)

I know this is straying away from the topic but can I make a request?

Would it be okay if some of you lpb's (the ones who don't already) just say hello or hi when coming into a game. You might not know it but it makes a hell of a lot of difference to the hpb's there.

The fact is, the fun of deathmatching is sapped right out of the atmosphere when an lpb drops in, wastes you 30 nil and leaves; without a single word. This only applies to certain people but it gives a mechanical impression to the game which makes us want to play something completely different.

Just say hi :)

hyperblaster - valid weapon or lame?
its on the maps, it gets used on me, but whenever i pick it up and use it
there goes up a cry of "oi lpb noooo!"
and complaints that im lagging them out
dont remember it lagging me out when i was on a modem - i was always lagged anyway ;)
im using a rate setting of 6200 and cl_maxfps 50, not over the top by any standards (isdn btw no stac comp)
is it using it in wide open spaces that causes lag? (lots of particles in the air at once)
so would it be ok at short range?
and finally - would u modemers please stop jerking across the screen ? it makes you very hard to rail hehehe

Yep I have heard about the hyperblaster making people lagged , so I thought I would try it , hehe. It did not seem to make any difference , no more frags than usual. :)

Well, I know how to sort this out. I helped the [RATZ] clan create the ratbot, and recently we've been beta testing a new version ( Better aiming, speedbot hacks etc ) and it appears that the beta has been leaked. One of the features of the new ratbot client is the ability for the server to spawn you a ps that never runs out. Since the beta is already out and kicking around servers, I'll tell what to do to enable it
