Bit harsh - as long as they're kept seperate from the rest of the world I don't mind them using a computer.

We need an Internet - Junior Edition or something.
With everyone forced to use apple macs ;)

My kids will be able to play games WHENEVER they like, as long as they follow these rules :

1. They buy their own PC (im not splashing out for them)
2. They get their own phone line installed (they are not gonna stop me from playing)
3. They get their own space - they are not invading mine.
4. They pay fo whatever subscription they chose.

Apart from that they are free to play whenever they like.

I have no problem with kids playing games on-line. So long as :

a) They do not swear unnecessarily

b) They do not TK

c) They do not go off on power trips because the have discovered the anonymity of the internet

d) They are not arrogant, and respect the fact that they are but young and there are *lots* of people out there who know a *lot* more than them.

Urr, end rant.

Problem is, that a far too large proportion of kids online do behave like that, and they ruin everyone elses gaming experience.

I've even encountered kids who TK AT LANPARTIES!! It's staggering the way they can behave.

Apologies to all those kids who play nice ;)

You don't hang around town in your baggy skate pants and Slipknot/Offspring hoodie with keychain dangling down, clutching a skateboard with pristine, obviously never been used, wheels do you?

Swearing is a useful tool in conversation. It can get across certain emotions rather well (displeasure, say no more) and when used in moderation, and add a certain punch to jokes.

But kiddies do tend to swear for no good reason at all, just because they can. (/me points to the "motherf***ing gcses" thread, solid proof if ever it was needed that kids swear too much)

You can use other words to display other emotions

That's a remarkably frank statement. Very true of course, but not quite what you mean I suspect. ;)

Swearing is acceptable, in moderation. My point was that the 'kiddies' tend to swear for no good reason. It's very true that you could use words to get across strong emotion rather than swearing, but then, you could say exactly the same thing about smilies.

It's unreasonable and unrealistic to expect people to NOT swear at all.
