it may only be me but what do people do when they reach 50

1. RVR i find the zerging dreadful i very very rarely see tactics,i have seen many many posts stating that the zerg is awful but i see it every night.

2.crafting- i dont want to craft,i think there is nothing wrong with it ,its just not for me.

3.ALT- again i do not want to play again with an alt,i want to play with "my" character.

4.Legion/prince etc- these can be fun but there is only so many times he can be killed.

5.helping others- to be honest in the last 2 months since hitting 50 i have probably done this the most, but now i am growing tired of this as well.

I am not writing all this to be a smart arse or "clever" i genuinely am now regularly finding myself bored.I have put a lot of time into my character but now there seems little for me to do.

I am just an average player i don't play uber24/7 i dont have buffbots or a second account.i enjoy guild things (when they happen),i enjoy chatting and having FUN.But if i feel like this i assume others do as well and surely for the whole community it is in everyones intrest to not loose players, less players meaning less action etc.

so i ask again what do other people do? or am i just missing the point.

I agree with everything you say. I think once you reach 50 you have a couple of options.

RvR. Roleplay. Helping others level. Be an organizer of things (GM, guild officer, PARP). Craft. Try to enjoy an alt. Try to enjoy another realm. Use the game to chat with friends.

I guess those of us who don't find our thing in the game will run around like headless chicken for a bit at 50, and eventually drop off to find something else to do.

As for enjoying RvR, I think it depends on what you play. Those who play RvR-viable characters, on a whole, probably enjoy the after-50 life for longer than those who don't.

Think the only reason i'm still playing is the community, both players in my realm and the mindless chat on irc :)

Been playing since day one when the servers went live and made tons of friends ever since. After 50 all one can do is level and alt, rvr some and try to acquire rare items to tweak your character to the best.

Another thing that is quite cool to do is avoid the zerg, go visit the hadrians or Odins, or maybe the gorge in Hibland (depending on who you play) you often will find small groups doing the same sort of thing and RvR is far more interesting like this rather than the zerg.

Also a further thing to do is ambush people on well trodden routes, hibs going towards crim etc.

Lastly get some people together and try and take a keep and defend it (not the emain ones) can be a laugh too

You got the 50 blues matey, don't worry about it. Happens to a lot of us after the adrenelin wears off when you finally hit that goal.

Cheer up, you get over the "What do I do now?" thing quite quickly :)

I do think though that what you do when you hit 50 is partly influenced by how you got there.

/em decides to stop there and goes off for more coffee before he turns into some kind of daoc zen buddhist

EDIT: Nothing

I hit 50 on the 10th October, and I can honestly I havent been bored once yet.

I RvR, I roleplay, I have helped other guildies (not enough really yet) , I've crafted a bit, I've alted, I've chatted.

And yes, as Roo says, it does depend how you got there.

What I do now is little different to what I did then, except there is no pressure to level.

Ahh.... the luxury of it all!

Bit skint now I dont hunt though, I must say....

The game post-50 is what you make it.
the zerging in emain is quite pointless and very dull. It's all about number and very little to do with any personal skill.
I suggest you get another 7 people together and hit the midgard frontier. Lots of the people who are sick of the zerg hang out there. Can be quite a few small group skirmishes which are 10 times the fun of emain.
I'm lucky in that I play a very RvR viable class (though luck is prehaps the wrong word after the pain getting to 50 with it, maybe reward is better :)). I often either go solo or with another infiltrator and head deep into the hibbie frontier or head into midgard again. Some really great fights there.
Helping others can be very rewarding, if you have a class that can really contribute.

Well, I must admit that going solo in odin's is more fun then the "Emain-zerg (tm)". Allthough my wiz tends to be a bit fragile
