Hey all,

Have just moved to Mid, and was wondering what classes (with what type of spec) the realm most needs on Excal?

(I'm thinking mainly of RvR here, but PvE is also a consideration - would like to be able to get groups if I can... :D )

Thanks in advance for the input...

Try a healer if you like that kind of class :)

currently we're swarming over with SB's and skalds (and a good amount of warriors too), but we have a severe lack of healers..

(one of the reasons that I play a healer, love grouping and I personally love the healer class :) )

I suggest you chose a Healer, as this class is the most loved in all Midgard and we certainly need more of them. You will have no trouble finding a group due to your powers of healing, mezzing and rezzing. It's probably the most responsible role of all the classes and it can get demanding at times.

Good luck!

Ok, I won't bother to try to dampen the enthusiasm of the previous posters too much with my whole view on the healer class. ;)

But while VERY needed for a succesful realm, and having very easy time lvling and such, it is certainly not an enjoyable class for a lot of players. A lot of baggage comes with being a primary healer and a primary mezzer with very little dmg output, bear this in mind if you choose this class.

Oh btw I do like my healer generally, but I go through patches wondering why I bothered.

MY suggestion for a grp friendly class, who could be seen to have more fun factor than a healer is a fully specced Suppresion runie. RM are a very nice class for versatility and fun IMO.

Anything but healer

Have to agree with the last post, whilst its true we could do with a few more healers it is an awfully boring class to play and you get virtually no respect from other players and pm'ed to death with 'rez me plz' in dungeons and buckets of abuse if you dont give up your play time to go rez them.

Also the Healer experience RvR sucks you get reduced to Crowd Control and Rezzing neither of which earns you RP or BP's and you are the big arrow/nuke/stealther poison stab target.

I know I shouldn't winge I choose to be a healer, a mistake I think I'm going to see it through to L50 cos I'm bloody minded like that, but my advice would be to choose Spiritmaster or Warrior both quite a lot of fun.

Try a shaman, they rock, ive just made one mainly for my buff bot buisness, but so far they rock, there buffs rule, and Cave magic rocks, i able to solo 3 yellows with no downtime (1 at a time)

We can also heal, root, AoE DoT's, Friggs (gotta love em) buffs rock, damage add (should be a bit better tho) and a damaage shield, most vertile support class i eva played,

Rock on Shimmys!!

(When am higher level, i be chargeing 1g for a full set of extream buffs to you stelthers)

Party on Trollbot!!

boring class? not if u like having responsibility and like demanding situations. at higher lvls, you are the one who makes a pull successful or not. ppl rely on you, so you have to do your best and have to pay attention all the time.

you will lvl pretty fast when beeing some lvls below tanks, but you will also get the blame if anything happends. ppl have been very rude to me when dieing, even though it wasnt my fault. exped in uppland for 4 hours something without casualties, when 1 guy finally died, a hunter who pulled and couldnt loose agro, everyone started to spam "noob" "wtf heal plz" etc..

but anyway it IS a fun and demanding class to play, at least in the PvE part.

How does a Healer level?

Is it just a case of pimping yourself out to groups?

Thanks for the input, guys, but I realise now that I should have asked, 'what class is most needed _apart_ from Healers?' :eek6:

I'm switching from Hib, where I played a Warden to 38, so for the moment at least, I've had my fill of characters that are much loved in groups but rely on other classes to do the damage...

So, apart from Healers, what else does Mid need? :D

(Apologies for not making this clear first time round - I was still in the process of reading up on the Mid classes when I originally posted)

How about trying something a little different to the rest mate? Like my thrown spec kobold warrior :p Or a Kobold Cave shammy, or a dwarf hunter... Anything but more bloody skalds and SB's! All you seem to see now is SB's desperatly trying to get to BG... <hah got mine thier today and its a lurrrvly feeling>
Why not even try something different when choosing your toon, Like think of an inspiring Midgardy name, then plan a character around it, how do you envisage X, what abilities are you looking for? should X cast or tank? etc etc... Once you have a good idea of what you want from your character find a class that comes closest to the line.
Remember you will have to stick with that name, and that hair cut all the way till 50, so think carefully about your build..

Oh and if you want the easy route choose a troll warrior with a big hammer and monosylabic name, talk in 3rd person and create some mindless macro warcry that you can spam at every poor mob... Oh and hope you don't start seeing a frag counter in your hud :p

done healer and shaman,

currently 37 shaman specced in cave magic and mending:)

it really is cool:) yellows ain't a prob providing ya can get your poisons in, and ya can grp (but don't try multiples unless they grey;))

Other than that, nice grp and solo classes = skalds, thanes (i actually said thanes is a good class??? eek)

lotsa hi lvls seem to be starting buff bots on 2nd accounts, (healer/shaman types:)) or a skald, so might find dedicated warrior alright, but from what i gather, stepping in, and thumping continuously gets a bit boring after a while

I'd say shaman. Shaman is the only class in midgard that gets AE DOT, and boy is that a useful spell in rvr. Shaman is also midgard's main buffer and secondary healer. Shamans resemble a mentalist in a way, just that it's more focused on buffing and healing than doting and nuking and shaman also gets chain and more hp. I'm a kobold shammie level 27 now, and I really enjoy it. I'm going aug 22, mend 27, cave 41. The sheer power of the dot isn't in its damage, but that it interrupts snipers nocking their bow and casters trying to cast. AE DOT can turn the tide, as it did at bledmeer some weeks ago when Ebeneezer AE DOTed the albs attempting to take it. This made the albs back off, and their casters disabled, allowed the mid tanks to charge out and destroy them. Shammies also get AE disease and a bolt spell. They are soon to get added cave damage, and a dd spell and an (insta?) pbaoe disease spell.
The least played class by far though is the spiritmaster, the midgard pet class. Spiritmaster can mez, nuke, heal and will soon get a pbaoe dd spell.

Ttrollbot is now dead :(

I gimped his was to Gimpdom,
I really should look at spec's,
He was ment to be a Buffbot,
But i found shamans so much fun,
Maby i'll remake him,
As a Cave shaman Machine,
Only time will Tell,

Morning the loss of trollbot,
May Hel Take Care of him,:( :(

Trollbot Will return, with a new name, a new size, a new face,

And not as a augging Machine all hail to him, he will make a grand entrance:clap:

Go with a class that you would enjoy. If you like to healer people take up a healer or shaman role. If you like being sneaky rogue class. blah blah blah. Go with a class that you will love to play.
