Don't go for BT!!! I have friends using it and apparently they have had various problems.
Check out ADSL guide before you decide.
I went for Nildram mainly because you get a static address and they've just dropped their monthly rate to £42.50 (£49.94 with VAT) which is nice
The waiting time was about three weeks, but that was down to BT. The engineer was very efficient getting the ADSL on within 10 minutes. Unfortunately, it then took him about two hours, twenty calls to the office and a visit to the exchange to get the dial tone on. Not his fault, just typical BT beaurocracy.
I've only had the line drop once which was BT's fault.
Before I signed with Nildram, I gave them a call to check whether they blocked any ports or did any NAT, whether they had any forced proxies, and also, most importantly, whether there was any problem with me running games servers.
