I am new to playing a caster (mainly played tanks and hybrids)
so I was wondering which of the following break mezz:

single-target stat debuff
single-target resist debuff
AoE debuff
AoE disease
AoE root
nearsight
AoE buff shearing
stun

As for breaking mezz PvE and RvR are two different things...

In PvE everything breaks mezz afaik, but in RvR you can use your debuffs (aoe/stat/resists) without breaking the mezz - not sure about buff-shearing, disease, nearsight - haven't got access to those myself :)

Stun I believe breaks mezz - root on the other hand gets ignored on mezzed targets (maybe wrong here... not that often I fire my root I guess)

for RvR I believe, stun, root, any dmg and buff shearing breaks mezz. I'm pretty sure about buff shearing , cuz it does some dmg as well and root deffinately. I dont think any diseases, debuffs or nearsight breaks it in RVR...

pve: yes to all

rvr: pretty sure it's all but the first three.

disease and nearsight interrupt so pretty sure they break mezz (anything that interrupts breaks mezz apart from the dps debuffs which get fixed in 1.71)

VP break all ! xD

single-target stat debuff
single-target resist debuff
AoE debuff
AoE disease
AoE root
nearsight
AoE buff shearing
stun
Stat debuff don't break mezz in RvR
Disease does
Root does
Nearsight - dono tbh
Buff shearing does dmg and break mezz
stun break mezz aswell
dmg debuffs interupt and break mezz aswell in this patch, this will be changed so it don't interupt then I guess it won't break mezz either

As most people have said - in pve sneezing at the mob will break mezz. In rvr its different your own debuffs don't break mezz on player targets but pets follow pve code so throw an aoe debuff in and you'll have pets all over you.
Also in rvr remezzing doesn't half duration like it does in pve.

And yes disease and ns break mezz.

As Javai says, pets in RvR act like PvE mobs and ae debuffs will break mezz on em, so it's best to try and throw in the debuff just before mezz lands unless you like getting pet zerged ;)

This has been touched on, but mez doesn't break mez in RvR, nor does it affect duration - so you can just spam ae mez on people till all are mezzed. :p

post 1.71 that's the only thing that doesn't break mezz that interrupts.

in pve there seems to be a wierd "bugg"

if you aoe pull a coupl eoff mobs...

then mezz them all

then you pet one of the creatures in your mezz

the whole mezz will break...

verry annoying and bloddy stupid.
I don't know if this is a bugg or not, it just happens
