So we've just moved house and we wanted to get the net on (obv!) made an appointment for an engineer to come out and install the fiber, engineer doesn't turn up (cunt) rings BT and tells them

"Oh, we'll make a new appointment for an engineer to come out with high priority".....

doesn't turn up (again?) rings BT again (fucking pissed off at this point)

they go

"Ok, we've made a new appointment he will be out tomorrow between 1pm and 6pm"

and again he doesn't turn up, the best part about the third engineer was he had gone back and said he'd completed the job yet he hadn't even been out (so utterly fuming at this point I phone BT again) "Really? that's a joke sir and I'm sorry for the inconvenience! I'll get a fault engineer to do it for you, they are the highest priority engineer we have"

This time he turns up thankfully and installs it and tells me this before leaving "They've started to contract even more outside workers for engineers to work for BT now, most of them are fucking cowboys and we've had loads of complaints about them already."

So not only cowboy builders you have to look out for now but cowboy phone engineers :l

Aye, BT contract a -shit- load of engineers, it's their fault, and it's not, why would you work for them, when you can contract from them, and earn shit loads more?

Because he rang the control to say it was going to take 15 mins more and he would be late for next appoint.

On a side note as an ex BT engineer, the volts in a line is 50, but to get ADSL working they increase it to 100 volts, which is actually only 10 volts off the US mains, you can get quite a kick off ringtone from the line as it mimics AC, the DC 100 volts is barely noticeable as it is current restricted.
