I am very sad to say that ToA is not for me. It appears to have killed the game as I knew it, but to be honest I think the rot actually began with spellcrafting etc.
This is not a whine as I know all too well that things in life change, and the game has changed in a way which has taken the word fun out of it for me.
ToA has immense potential, and maybe when the furore dies down, and the power gamers are content with their ML’s and artefacts, its potential will be realised.
So I have decided to leave the game while I have fond memories.
The times were great. Many bemoan the old days of running around Salisbury Planes and the magic of the BIG dings like 20!
My regards go out to all those I have crossed paths with. I have been a member of some very fine guild with some very fine people. My brief resume is thus:
The Knights Who Say Ni, with the likes of Wildfire, Tomsc, Calomas, Alithiel et al. The originals and the best days in the game.
The Three Lions with Dhrun, Pringle etc.
The Dragon Fighters. One of the best guilds in DAoC and I was very sad to witness its demise.
First Cohort. Well what a bunch of ingrates. They are all self obsessed 12 year olds who don’t have 2 brain cells to rub together! Only joking, they are not the bad guys people make them out to be. 90% are fine people and fine players, they just decided to do their own thing and people seemed to resent it. I would have probably still been in there now if Konah didn’t expect me to risk my marriage and kids for the game!
And last, but not least, The Prodigy. Another crowd who seem to get bed press. The guild has become too big of late and difficult to manage, but at its core are a fine bunch of people. Good luck to them all, Thamile, Darksbane, Theodoric, DJ Lunatari etc. I will not name others for the risk of missing someone!
Six level 50’s later I can honestly say that 90% of the time was time and money well invested.
So a BIG WAVE to you all.
I hope that what ever you do, and what ever God you believe in, that peace and understanding follows you wherever life may take you.
Best Regards
Ashgen
