Hi all,

Just done my first pc upgrade in nearly 6 years. My old gaming rig was a p3 600 running on an ABIT bx2 motherboard with a TNT2 UIltra.

As you can guess, it didn't run much and the motherboard started to play up so I took the plunge and got the following:

Shuttle SB75G2 - nice black case
P4 2.6 HT
1gig of corsair ram (matched)
fx5200 only as a temp solution till i save some wedge for new card

Got it hooked up to my 454Pro and wow. What have I been missing out on over the last few years?

I have started to bring "Freddy's House" back online for those of you who know what that is.... More details soonish.

So what games should I take a look at?

Heh, welcome to the 21st Century.

At the moment I'm playing Max Payne 2, Neverwinter Nights, Operation Flashpoint, and Raven Shield. And don't forget Call of Duty comes out on Friday.

And Freddy's House?

Battlefield 1942 for multiplayer action (Community nights Tues / Wed - see http://forums.barrysworld.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=54720 :D )

Hidden And Dangerous 2 is a fantastic SP game, well worth a purchase.

Max Payne 2 is also worth a blast thro, bit short, but has a lot of potential for mods etc.

Raven Shield for some multiplayer co-op action :D

And if you like flight sims, have a go at IL-2 Sturmovik : Forgotten Battles

Halo if you want to blast cartoony aliens into blue dripping gobbets (non)serious fun -you know you want to ;), Call of Duty (out soon) seems well worth a try: there are two drool-inducing demos online atm

And Freddy's House?

The precursor to BW. This server was the one that started it all!

I love Halo on my XBox so will more than likely have a look at this game.

Freddys house? was that pre-dating the Tortured Souls QW server?

i only remember Minos CTF due to my blood ties.. and the Irish CTF server at times :(

Raven Shield is definate fun, idle in #The_Firm for a friendly 2hr game most nights, they are starting to get better.. dont get killed within the first 2 mins ;)

Max Payne 2 is good for SP games.

NeverWinter Nights is quiet, we need more bodies! #nwnaddicts

Halo network play is fun, especially playing dodgems with the warthogs ;)

Yes, Freddy's house became Tortured Souls QW which in turn became BarrysWorld.

Wanna go back in time hence the getting it back online and enjoying those intense laugh a second times!

those were the days :)

*goes all nostalgic*

Raven Shield if your all stealthy assault style.
NWN if your a die-hard RPG player.
Halo for strange goings on in the middle of games.

I dont think theres any real games out currently which capture the ease and quickness of Quakeworld itself. :(

i found vietcong to be a good sneeky man game when i played it, you can do some really sneeky shit in it :)

you could always dig out the old TS QW server config and put it up for nostalgic sake for a night a week to drag back the old regulars.. im sure a lot of them still have quake installed ;)

I found single player Vietcong very gripping right up until a mission in a swamp, in the dark, with no way you could tell what was happening, and the AI kept stopping and refusing to continue. And the multiplayer was let down by some truely awful maps.

All you need is the non-shareware version of Quake.

QW is a free addon to it.

Splinter Cell is well worth a try

Tomb Raider - Angel of Darkness

Counter Strike :)

Freelancer (quite like this - surprisingly)

Maybe I should have phrased that as "How do I get a non-shareware version of Quake?"

I can't access the iD software site from here, but I would assume they would have a paid download option somewhere.

Wee, a fellow shuttle boyo :)

Incidently Microdirect have all the latest models listed now, but most are "coming soon". The 75g2 is a very nice model, but I am tempted to get the 20th Anniversary (Reflexion) shuttle as a second pc for my house.
