So that 1 in 5 increased chance of lung cancer, which I assume from the way youve expressed it is a favourable study you have found.

Even assuming that you haven't factored in the other cancers, such as stomach, throad and pancreatic.

Cancer is not a way you'd choose to die. For yourself and for those who may be around you when you have it.

1 in 5 odds as a gamble on having or not having lung cancer dont look very good odds to me. Might be ok for putting money on a grand national favourite, but not for this.

You actually missed tongue cancer, most if not all nicotine is transferred to the brain via the tongue when smoking - at least that was what I was told when I visited Fag Ends to give up smoking - thus the apparent need to inherently smoke and inhale is pointless ;)

Bollocks surely.

You inhale it into your lungs so that it can get into the blood stream with the oxygen and then into your brain.

Its the tar that gives you cancer isn't it?

But then i'm no scientist/doctor tbh.

No, I was pointing to the need to get the nicotine hit that it's not necessary to inhale - thus why patches etc work as transference to the blood stream can vary. You are quite right in your assumption that the cancer is transfered via the lung but that's due to the other chemical's in today's tailor made cigarettes ie stychnine, cyanide etc and the other 99 chemicals in the cigarette and the tar end ;)

You wanna quit smoking and get high at the same time and then never touch another cigarette ever again, try Xyban. Although there are side effects to which have not been fully quantified.

I reckon there just a placebo tbh

Umm not really, although there are considerably less side effects because you are smoking the tobacco in it's more raw state, but it's still treated in a similar way and thus there will be complications. There is another reason why I said that it's not necessary to inhale. You ever remember that people smoking cigars do not inhale? That's because most people think that the smoke is too strong for their lungs, that's just really a myth. It actually points to the reason I mentioned earlier, nicotine transference through the tongue. Although I used to inhale cigars, but the damned phlegm was just getting too much and thus I cba anymore with cigars. Gonna quit myself soon - again :( Smoking outside in winter is teh monkey's penis :puke:

What i meant by the cancer thing is, if you got a 20,,,hell...30% chance of getting something from smokes, won't bother me much. If i had a 30% chance of winning a thing and putting all my assets into it, i wouldn't take it. It's sh*t odds, no way round it. So it works the other way aorund aswell. Couldn't give a f*ck about study numbers really, i die when i die if i die and how i die. No matter. And no it's not "apathy" or some sh*t like that, i just don't mind it one way or other.

Neither do i smoke for the nicotine(might have addiction, never tried to be without for more then 4 days, no problem), i smoke of habbit, to calm down, to enjoy, to what-ever-the-f*ck i want. I got annoyed and had a smoke, it's no "cop-out" or "excuse" to smoke, i smoke and it calms me down. Simple and a fact. this doesn't have to turn to some anti-smoker seminar.

Anyway, Calaen, if you've read anything about my life or what's been going on:

I tend not to get angry at a machine for breaking, maybe if he spent more time trying to control his life rather than his dreams which he assures us he is good at he would not either :p

Not funny even the slightest atm. No offense.

And you wouldn't get angry at all if you lost all your work, all your memories(pictures and such) and other stuff you had?

I didn't mean i'd "throw a temper tantrum and throw sh*t around". I got REALLY annoyed for losing everything i had.

But if it doesn't effect you at all that you've lost about 2 years worth of work, HARD work+ the memories of pictures and such, well...dunno what to say, you're different i guess.

Anyone with any experience with computers backs shit up nowadays, I said It was a shame about your computer and I meant it. I am very suprised you did not have it covered.

With regards to your life I kinda feel for you mate, however there are hundreds of thousands of people unemployed. There are some who dont have access to a computer and the internet and are way worse off than you. you seem to have a family that has your back which again puts you way above a hell of a lot of people.

Now if I were in your shoes id be fliiping burgers or sitting in some dungeon inputting data just to have cash in my pocket. Having any kinda of job at all keeps your mind busy and if the job is shit gets you by till you find something else. If everyone in the world had their dream job the streets would be full of shit and there would be no fast food restaurants :D

Of course its easy for me to sit here and tell you these things cause I am not in your situation. I have lost jobs before but I have never stayed out of work longer than a week or two. Ive worked in offices, stockrooms, retail stores, picking up and dropping off disabled children at school for £50 pound a week. Working with absolute scum of the earth in shitty warehouse jobs just to get a wage at the end of the week. By working in jobs you hate it spurs you on to better things, i dont care what anyone says there is always a job out there if you have the balls to take it.

the suprise isn't as big, when you don't know where next weeks food money comes from.

A backup drive isn't a "top priority".

About jobs, it's funny, i meet the same thing from every person i meet:

"Get any job!"
"Flip burgers!"
"Do something!"

As if i'm just sitting home, sleeping and farting and waiting for my dream job.

I've looked around, looked and looked, searched and thought, tried and did, nothing has panned out. It's not a simple matter of "oh he's just waiting for dream job".

I'm not saying my situation is sh*t, mentally, i'm cool, i know who/what/where i am, i know what i have to do if i have to do it, but it REALLY gets to me when people assume i'm just sitting about and not doing anything about it.

If someone offerend me any job at the moment, i wouldn't even have time to blink about it, but it's not THAT easy always.

But, my post wasn't about it AT ALL, it was that if you lost everything you wouldn't be angry?

TBH, I could leave my job and instantly be in another job within one-two weeks around here (albeit - less pay). I know most employees are on the prowl for students and younger more flexible fucks but you're hardly nearing the age of an OAP so either you're just very unlucky or you're not looking in the right places.

Have you tried the agencies that find work for you? Cleaner jobs are ALWAYS going around here and it's a fuck easy job.

That's the problem. Partly.

There's so many students and "young hip people" around, and coming fresh out of school that even at 28, it's rather hard. But it's not the only one:

They don't like the fact i'm diabetic(in physical jobs). Granted, it does make me "not perfect" for the job.

They want to give "young bucks" jobs, so they can get into the business easier.

I've got so much experience in my field of work, that they wonder why i'm not employed in that field.

I don't have any schooling, besides basic school(as i jumped to work life quite early), and they don't really care for that either.

No drivers lisence(didn't need it way back when).

Cleaning services do most of the cleaning here, and yes, i've tried those too.

But AGAIN this is not about it, i got my plans and it's not a "Gamah can point/laugh thread". Just curious on how someone can be "cool" about losing two years worth of stuff and hard work.

Im not cool I just would not go ape on anything because my computer broke. So long as I am alive and well that is all that matters.

Yeah, you read too much into the whole "go rocky on my computer" which was a light joke at the time.

Just don't think you'd be that "cool about it", if something, say, burned a book you were writing, designs you've made and two years worth of memory photos. If anyone can be just, at the moment(not counting cooldown, which the smoke is...), "huf huf, ok, ohwell", then i think i'm not the one with a "problem".

Like i said earlier, it's not about "not knowing about backup" or some such, it's the lack of ability to do so really.

What's gone is gone, no point pining over it, and i can rewrite/get most of the stuff. Just mostly annoyed of the memories gone. Even if, yes, memories are stored in the mind and as such, good enough, but pics are pics are pics and all that.

Maybe in magical DocWolfe land.

May hair and the bit of beard i got had nothing to do with getting a job.

And just beucase i have long hair, or a beard, doesn't mean i don't know how to "wear accordingly", trim or wear my hair in a civilized manner. Long hair and a bit of beard doesn't make me a f*cking bum.

Just a, "thing old folk and people with jobs" like to say" 'cause they don't want to admit that people might not get a job just 'cause they ain't getting a job.

It's "sort of" fine when the grumpy oldtime folk say it, 'cause in their day it was a factor.
