Weird question; water + alcohol go bad?

0.5 litre of vodka.
0.3 litre of tap water.
1 bagt of peppermint candy(sugar).

Is it possible that this mix can go bad in room temp?

Or is it basically like any vodka based drink and it's good until cows die of ice age?

I know that stale tap water might not be good for you, but, well, question remains.

suger might cause it to start to ferment, and since you water out the vodka it might get low enough alcohol % so that the yeast wont die. And it depends on how strong the vodka was to start with. Forgot exaclty how you did the numbers but think it was 1 part booze vs 4 parts water you cut the % in half.

Well you watered it down and contaminated it and put in some fresh air. It's all down to how much % alcohol it has left, but i'd recon yeah it will go bad.

Your basic 40%.

Think the mix is closest to 3/2 parts vodka/water now.

Guess it's best to drink it within a week( no problem there :D), doubt there's need for fridge though.

Then again, doesn't hurt :p

Yeast stops @ 12 - 13%. Anything higher and we're talking distilled.

It depends how long you leave it, the water will go stagnant after a few weeks. Imagine drinking water from a bottle that has been at room temp for a few weeks (that has been opened) it would be disgusting.

Best bet for your drink is to take 1ltr of vodka, pour out roughly 100ml and add two packets of skittles directly into the vodka, leave it for about a week (shaking it once or twice a day) the colouring and sugar will have leeched out of the skittles, then siv out the hard parts of skittles that have no dissolved and you've got skittles vodka - tastes amazing. If you want to impress only had skittles that are the same colour.

Yeah it's sort of a skittles based drink, well, finland had turkish pepper vodka a long time ago already.

It makes for a rough peppermint shot, but the water is there to tone the 40% down a bit.

The water has only been a day in the bottle, and it's half gone, so doubt i'm in any danger :D

IT wont go bad, it wont ferment,

the only thing you risk is it getting "stale" over time, especially ones the bottle is at 50% and under, this can be avoided to some extent by moving it to a smaller bottle ones you reach 50cl 35 cl ect.... wich prevents exelled evaporation.

Nothing will happen to the water you add..at all....

The punk kids in Berlin use to drink Vodka with Milk (same idea, to tone down the alcohol). They call it "mouse piss". Quite an appropriate name I´d say. :)
