Weird lag (with pet) after computer upgrade :/

Hi all, need some help

I upgraded my computer not long ago from a:
Abit KT7raid, athlon tbird 900mhz, gf3ti500, 512mb sd memory
to a:
Asus p4pe, p4 2.53ghz, radeon 9700pro, 1024 ddr memory

and while daoc runs alot smoother, when im playing my necro, I have really weird lag, i run around, and my pet keep lagging miles away all the time, as well as the mobs im attacking. The left square is blinking red from time to time.. its the P which means Ping yes i believe...
Ok so i am connected with a 56k modem atm, but i was with my old comp too, and had no problem like this.

Anyone with a clue what this could be ? I dont seem to have any problem when im playing my scout or pally (left square is not blinking red), it seems related to having a pet with me what is going on...

if you turn the lag thing on shift+p i think and it will tell you what is lagging
