Weird Issues (man)

Im having a wierd thing happening with my pc at the moment, first of all, im getting the error message

"Primary IDE channel no 80 conductor cable installed"

I take this as ive got 2 drives that run at different speeds and need to seperate the channels. Fine, ill go do that.

The strange thing tho, since getting this message, im not sure if its related or not i cannot update (XP Pro btw) or connect with microsofts authorisation servers on asherons call 2.

I have tried a fresh install (i do this when i get new hardware a lot), only thing thats changed is i have an extra 256 meg ddr 2700 ram crucial stuff. Also tried rebooting/formatting again all to lead to the same problem.

I have installed sp1 straight after install so no issues there was just wandering whether anyone thought it could be linked to my message i get on boot before i get all excited that a new cable is going to sort it out.

Any feedback would be great.

I it XP activation rather than AC2?

XP activation relates to a hardware picture of your PC including ram. It will have detected the change and wants to tell MS of your new found rammage.

I thought it did that. Was wanderin whether its because i installed the same os on my gateway (celeron 300a) with same disc (me bad) and its sending info related to that?

Basically all i get in update is a jump from 0% to 100% and it looks very much like its not even looking.

The ac2 thing is weird too as everyone else can get on no problem, my celeron is now 100% patched and up to date and no worries yet this one is not updating at all.

I have also tried disabling my lan to no effect and i even tried using a different serial on this one (i do have my own legit one) to see whether this would help.

Silly me i had swapped the cables for the cdrom and hd over.. neway. Still got same issues and no error message on boot.

I really cant work out whats going on and i really need to slay some ugly looking monsters on dereth

Normal web works. update / ac2 still dont =/

It was all a matter of time.

How could i be so stupid.

To expect (assume) windows time to auto correct was too much to ask for clearly.

No auth as time was wrong. No update for same reason.

24 hrs... 4 fresh installs... One small suggestion..
