Before the SI patch/expansion my fps would drop considerable (slide show) whenever I was close to a large city or a large crowd of players. After the SI patch/expansion nothing has changed. As far as I can tell, my fps are exactly the same. However, one thing has changed since the pacth/expansion. I get some weird fps lag (similar to screenshot lag) that seems to be related to the combat/chat window. Here are three examples that will cause fps lag when I play:
1. Selecting a target with my mouse pointer (lag occurs exactly when the "You target <name>" message pops up in the combat window).
2. Pressing the "target nearest enemy" key (lag only occurs if I get the "No monster target in range" message).
3. Scrolling down in the combat/chat window (lag occurs when I try to scroll below the last line (which is not possible)).
I can provoke a slide show by spamming No. 2 or No. 3 (above).
I have no idea why I get this lag, and I have not heard of anyone else who has this problem (also, I do not get this lag when I run my non-SI version of DAoC). I have formatted my harddisk, installed DAoC and SI, installed various graphics drivers, and installed various versions of DirectX, more times than I care to remember. Nothing has helped so far.
My computer:
AMD XP 1800+
512 MB RAM
GeForce3 TI 500
(3DMark2001 score: 6500)
My in-game settings:
800x600 resolution
No water effetcs, No shadows
Clipping range "near", char LOD "off"
(Basicly, all settings are set for optimal preformance)
Any help/ideas/suggestions/guesses/comments will be greatly appreciated.
