i was messing arround with r_displayrefreshrate last night and was amazed at the effect it as on my fps . . . . . . .
i norm use the highest rate i can (~120 hz) and play using v-sync off as this should give me a nice spped upand minise tearing.
my system is a k7v mobo, k7 735, 256mb ram (@cas 2), geforce 2 gts (32mb) and i norm play at 940x at 16bit colour depth, but last night i started with a clean instal and simply change the refresh rate and resolution.
results went like this
800x @ 60Hz - ~128 fps
800x @ 85Hz - ~125 fps
800x @ 120Hz - ~105 fps
940x @ 60Hz - ~127 fps
940x @ 85Hz - ~124 fps
940x @ 120Hz - ~97 fps
1024x @ 60Hz - ~80 fps
1024x @ 85Hz - ~80 fps
1024x @ 100Hz - ~80 fps
weird or what ?
so can anyone tell me whyruning at 85hz give me a 25% speed increase ?
also why does 1024 not show the same increase ?
