Weekly Pickup Games?

Myabe we could arrange a weekly game or something and arrange the teams in advance, so they are finely balanced etc.

Yes, pickup games are possible under the new server system, infact they are a major reason why ZaPpeh, Carl1ng and I have access to the servers.

Lets turn this into an official thread about pickup games.

Is everyone intrested in pickup game on the publics? It would mean two defined teams playing on a passworded server under match conditions.

Now this doesn't mean really serious play, it just means more balanced play and maybe even tactics.

Give me your preferred day, time and map and I or one of the other Liaisons can look into getting it sorted.

been playing on the supanet servers a while back and i thought they had a really good admin mod,it ranked there top players now this would be good,it would cause a little competition to get up there.you typed in top15 and it would tell ya.i know im waffling but anything that would make the servers more appealing has to be worth a mention.

For those of you who idle in #bwcs, I was going to try to add a pickup script to Apathy, but that will need a few changes to the poor wee bot which I've not had time to do. And a pickup game with an admin setting up the server would be excellent.

You all join up, when you hit the number of players needed (8-12 normally) you form teams, go and discuss tactics for 10-15 minutes, then join the server and play.

Like a clan match crossed with a public game.

So if I get this right, we all go into an IRC chatroom and 2 team captains are picked. Then all the rest of us line up against a wall and the captains take it in turns to pick?

I also remember, dimly, the terror of not wanting to be the last to be picked

Team Captains should vary on a Weekly Basis (If we play at a Set time weekly) that way it makes it nice and fair.

Also make the teams different... so that way your learning to play with different tactics and skills

No, I could organise it in advance with e-mail or even the forum, but I would like it if everyone started using irc for at least #bwcs. mirc is a small download and easy on your system resources. It really would help fill the servers if everyone started using irc for just that channel if nothing else.
