Weekend break away ideas, places

hey all,

I'm llooking to go away next month for a long weekend away and I'm after a destination abroad thats less than 3 hrs flight away, nice area and of course value for money(i.e. cheap )

if you've got recommenedations etc or know good package deals for this type of thing please post awway

Scottish Highlands? Brilliant if you enjoy cycling, walking, etc. No light pollution either.

you dont go on a full on cruise with DFDS. you goto your destination via ship, over night ofc. you can book your hotel, transfers etc all with them.

On your own or with a laydeee? Loads of places in Europe will be nice in April; Barcelona, Prague, Amsterdam, all good. Brussels is also surprisingly nice for a long weekend; good food and booze. Personally I´d avoid Paris, but that´s just me; I think its the most overrated city in the world.

Ooh, and if you want somewhere slightly less obvious, Seville is extremely nice and so is Lisbon.

If you want to stay in the UK then look at New Lanark in Scotland, it's not far into the country and is easy to get to. Lovely place, listed as a world heritage site and a stunning hotel. Great walks locally and within a hour of both Glasgow and Edinburgh.

Personally I'd go to Iceland, theres some very good deals available for short stays and it's such an unusual destination

dunno if you can at such sort notice but you may wana try renting a small cottage in one of the national parks like yorkshire dales or lake district, then again if the weather is still shit no jet skiing

krakow in poland is great. stunning architecture, plenty to see and do, even the higher class hotels are good value for money, people are friendly etc etc....basically, go there!

province of Limburg, south netherlands. very inland and easy access to Belgium and Germany. Maastricht is the main city, very picturesque. Alternatives, Brugge, Belgium. Picturesque in the extreme but a bit touristy, or Gent in belgium also nice. I like Copenhagen (Denmark) a lot too, though you will pay premium prices for a pint (unless you get it at the 7/11 like all young Danes do

Venice is pretty nice when theres not a million other tourists there, which there shouldnt be at this time of the year. Lots of impressive arcitechture and a very unusual city, also lots of shopping opportunities if you are looking for that.

Went to Warsaw for a stag do last year. Had a storming time but tbh it's a bit of a hole outside of the old city. The polish were all telling me to go to Krakow - even ones I meet in Blighty say the same thing.

Copenhagen or Aarhus in Demark come highly reccomended.

Also, Lubeck in Germany is a fab town to spend a weekend in, great food and atmosphere, plenty of stuff to do on weekends. Plus you can fly there with Ryanair. Cheaply. Score!

If you're looking for something more exotic, I can personally reccomend Siena in Italy. You'll be able to pop to Florence if you want to go have a look as well, since it's not too far. You also have the Palio on the second of July. One of the most spectacular things you'll ever see in your life.
