I saw the jumping on another site. Didn't think it was so special as he just jumped a distance of the wall. Now jumping OVER it from a small ramp would be a different deal.

It's a huge vert, and hence there is many meters of mere vertical. He slid down on his kneepads.
So, it most likely did not hurt much. He was likely to not land on top as I have seen a snowboarder do when hitting a huge quarterpipe.

That guy is sick, i've seen some other movies of his where he skates a HUGE half pipe and does amazingly big jumps, he holds the record for the longest and highest jump in 1 jump

It may look easy but if you try skateboarding like that for yourself, you'll see how hard it actually is.
