As most people know, I live in Qatar. It's a great country, gas is cheap, the sun nearly always shines and I live in a house the size of a mansion cheaper than a flat in the UK. However, the government are a bunch of bastards.

I go to university in the UK and talk to my parents and friends back here via video messaging, which is now blocked.

Does anyone know of any other programs that I could use for video conferencing and all that?

Not suggesting it's a solution for you but are other ISP's doing the same out there? Are there other ISPs out there? I'd have thought if there were and they weren't then people would just move over to them, as such this censorship would be a bad business move.

probably a port block - so you start a jabber server ( i think jabber does video?) on a server somewhere and set it to use [random unblocked port] and use that?

Skype is blockable, so probably already is. Perhaps you can find some https tunneling doohickey.....Does your Quatar isp have a webcache - that'll be a good start....
