Does anyone know how to calculate weapon skill?
from str (and/or dex) and weaponspec ?

Also, after reading Watermans faq on weapons, he says that Damage caps are a fixed thing.....

Waterman said:
There are two parts of weapon effectiveness – maximum possible damage, and average actual damage. Each weapon has a maximum capped amount of damage past which all damage is thrown away – one can never exceed this amount of actual damage dealt. This damage cap is applied after melee resists, however, hence it is possible to very rarely (such as when attacking 0AF mobs) see damage such as 200(-5000). This implies that well over 5000+ damage was originally done, but the damage was capped at 200.

Damage caps are a straight function of DPS and SPD. Like spells, these are modified by a bonus of three (though there is some thought that originally after release this bonus may have been four or higher). As mentioned in the section on Speed above, there is also a slow weapon bonus which applies. Thus, to calculate the damage cap of a weapon, you simply need to do the following:

Damage Cap = DPS * SPD * 3 * (1 + (SPD – 2) * .03)

For example, if one has a 16.5DPS weapon that is 3.0SPD, the damage cap will look like:

16.5 * 3.0 * 3 * (1 + (3 – 2) * .03)

16.5 * 3.0 * 3 * 1.03 = 152.955 damage cap

Im assuming by Damage cap, this guy means unstyle damage cap, and judging from this it means everyone has equal unstyle damage caps, or am i misunderstanding....

Im pretty sure ive hit level 0 mobs with my healer using a 4.0 cleaver unstyled for over 209 damage, but according to his formula, I should have gotten that number. What am i mistaking ?

This can't be right,

it also means that a cleric with a 16.5 dps, 3.0spd hammer will be able to hit as hard as a 50 crush specced merc or armsman with same weapon?

I always presumed that when speccing in a weapon, it raises your minimum damage..

To get back on your first question, try google :p I know for sure there's a weaponskill calculator out there... or it was atleast 2 months ago for sure :)

speecing in weapon dont reach u dmg cap, but make the difrent betwen min and max dmg lesser. It r str (e.i. if u use a sword) there raise u dmg cap, therefor an arms will have higher dmg cap then a cleric coz of higher str :)

Speccing a weapon raises your weapskill, therefore it raises base damage.

Weaponski0ll/targets AF * speed * dps = base damage
