It's a matter of preference really though, a blade melee ranger for example would suit a Celt, a pierce ranger suits luwi more.

bit hard to answer. since it will mostly depend on what spec you choose
example:
Shield-sword champ will perform better as a luri (higher base dex) than a Celt/Firby for example.
and when you specced it to Large Weaponary.. the Firby would have way more STR for massive dmg.
But hmm

Nightshade for example..
Elf has 5pts less dex and qui than the luri
But..
Elf has a base slash/thrust resistance, a luri doesnt

HIBERNIA
Celt: 3% slash, 2% crush, 5% spirit
Elf: 2% slash, 3% thrust, 5% spirit
Lurikeen: 5% crush, 5% energy
Firbolg: 2% slash, 3% crush, 5% heat
Sylvan: 2% thrust, 3% crush, 5% matter, 5% energy
as you see Elf has a 2% slash and 3% thrust resistance.

To answer your question depends on how you plan to play imho,

If you are going solo the best race for a class is based purely on stats considering you want to max out damage/defense depending on your planned spec.

If you are going to play in a strong fg, my opinion is that the more classes in that fg that are the same race.... the better, considering that the Enemy MA Caster/Tank will have a harder time picking targets off at the start.

ie. Its easier to pick out a Dwarf healer amongst a fg of Norsemen but its a pain in the ass when the Healers/Tanks are all Norsemen and you only have a couple of Kobbies running about. Part of the reason for which imho MIGET MAFIA was successfull (All Dwarfs except for a Kobbie shaman).
