Warriors and crafted swords...

Been buying some weapons from Jimli and I loved them (still love them) but since when I went from a 1HD crafted sword to the GA sword that gives me some good +sword stats and with some other items I have at level 45 total stat in sword 53.. (svartalf Crafted +RR and GA +sword stats)

Been testing both out lately and it seems like the GA is not by far (perhaps due to capped dps) better than the crafted..
And I really really love to see my sword skill being over 50 atm

Is a high sword skill better to have than the un-magical crafted swords? and if you have a answer is it possible to get some numbers to back up the answer?

think this all can be summed up to this:

sword with +sword > crafted sword ?

A high DPS crafted sword with high (98%+) Qual might give higher DPS then a GA sword but a higher swordskill gives lesser differance in ur dmg... and higher dmg so i think it is just to try out which makes u kill faster

keep in mind that Ga gives other stats boost also

Crafted weapon = 98%+ quality x 35% bonus
Epic armor = 100% qual x 35% bonus
difference = 0-2%

GA = 90% x 25%
difference = 20%
this means, you are 20% less effective, so be ready to do something like 80 (-80) dmg, if you are lucky enough to hit...

this is true though if your weapon skill is high enough, so you should take into consideration damage variance table (75%-100% if skill<2/3 lvl, 100-125% if skill >2/3 lvl and so on...)

crafted dont do DD though... but as soon as spellcrafting is here it wont be problem anymore...

For people who are or already were convinced of crafted weapons being better, I'll be crafting every night and saturday this week in Gna Faste.

Prices on lvl 50 weapons range from 200-1000g depending on quality demands.

Skill atm at 1031 so im only able to do 94% on the 2h 16.x weapons.

As a Warrior I wouldnt worry about +weapon stats, you easily have enough spec points to take a weapon to 50 and then with RR's your be over 50.
But like Krusha said, did you get it enchanted?

A warrior in epic armor has its STR con capped easily .. dex/qui can easily get near cap with DF items same with +hits (im atm only 4o hits from cap) but the resists is a diff matter

So going crafted (enchated ofc) with weapons is the way to go (and a small crafted (tier 9-10) enchanted shield fro slam in rvr.

Only thing youd loose out on is any procc, but thats to random to count on in any battle.

And when SC and ALC is in game and taken to a usable lvl Crafted will own so much more ....

Crafted: YES, Drop:maybe .. atleast until you get a crafted one

hehe.. nice to see a lot of replies here.. the reason that I was wondering this was that atm the +sword and other things seems to even out the crafted weapon with qua 91% (made prepatch) and bonus 30%..

when I hit 50 I'll be going for a crafted weapon, been my intention all the time, but for now being at level 45 this was a little complex to figure out, sword skill dmg variance, dps qua bonus and all the others.. (just thinking to try to calculate those things are making my head spin..)

For now I'll use the GA for some more levels and then change to a new crafted weapon but the 2HD enchanted I bougth, not only does it rock! it looks so insanely awesome too ( dwarven great sword )

Remember that DPS clamp goes in before QUA/CON penalty .

Bear in mind that crafted stats are based on 95% quality which will improve accordingly with 99% qual. The last two stats are the most important...true DPS and Damage per stroke.

What all this shows is that crafted will eventually make dropped weapons obsolete with the advent of Spellcrafting and Alchemy..and even at the moment a high qual (99%) weapon will probably wipe the floor with a comparable statted dropped one with adds, unless you require the stealth/parry type adds on your weapon.

In Summary:

1) Jimli get your finger out
2) Do I get a substantial discount for some good advertising?

Yup, but last 200 points take as much time and money as the first 800 so for another couple of weeks it will still be me.

I actually want another WPC in Midgard, maybe people will leave me xp then without a send every 5 minutes
