There's a thread in Slashdot atm about a skald called Warsinger on the US Pellinor server.
The player passed away in RL at the age of 32 and his guild organised an inter-realm memorial service. The picture below shows his friends and former online foes gathering in the shape of a heart. The two figures in the center are played by his RL girlfriend and his RL sister.
The whole thread has a lot to say about online communities and the way this sort of thng is handled. It also lists a few other similar stories.
I don't know if it labels me at all but I found the whole story quite touching.

but i find that rather amazing how u did that... with the love heart, and he looks like he had alot of friends....
