lol they've had to censor the trailer a bit--->they've removed all bits involving them being stabbed or hit by arrows!

Too right, it's not like it's a game about War or anything.

Very good to see it on the Beeb. This is the kind of coverage we always wanted to see DAOC getting; it's nice to see this game getting a real push anyway, despite the massive censoring of the promo video...

Yep good to see it being well advertised.

Chronic I dont mean to be an expert on the subject, but its been written a few times how at the time of daoc being developed/released, the mmorpg scene was very small and alot of people though the game would never appeal.

One other issue was GOA could not advertise their game on the USA websites (aka the ones all us UK people go on) as this would cause competition. France and Germany were ok as America did not advertise in their market, however most of the .com sites were already taken up by USA.

a new MMO wasn't news back in 2002 it was very niche - WoW has changed that... good to see WAR on the beeb though

I remember a fair number of people were worried that EA would kill Warhammer with their usual ham-fisted way of mainstreaming any license that comes their way. Its good to see that they didn't with Warhammer and that Mythic were able to get on with the job.

Now that the game is launched Mythic should get the benefit of having such a weighty bedfellow.

dam right, this is basically DAOC with a massive name behind it, all good imo, we shall never forget the classic days of daoc pre SI! and certainly pre TOA!

Doing well? it is appauling. My local games shops didnt even have as much as a poster up telling people about it - no running trailers no boxes on the shelf enticing people to think about the game. Speaking to the manager of a Game shop he told me that last week they went to a meeting to look at things that were being released over the next few months - WAR was not even on the agenda. He couldnt even gaurentee that they were going to get the game into the shop by the 18th? That is not good advertising - its non-existant.

Duh, what's up with that shop? I know of shops that heavily advertised the release of warhammer online and doing crazy stuff like having midnight open and dress contests with different rewards and several different special offers.

The shop should have known, if they're actually a game shop, that one of the next big things comming with lots of potential buyers advertise "WE'LL HAVE IT, DONT WORRY + BUY IT FROM US AND GET FREE PORN!", or something.

I wish that were true but it wasnt just the one shop in the town but both. I remember when WOW came out - you couldnt move in the same shops for the advertising. I just couldnt understand why they knew nothing about the game or why so little advertising. I found I was actually more informed than they were. There were other games being advertised in them - ones not due out untill end of October. boy did they get it wrong for timing.

that just means that shop sucks and whoever runs it has no clue.
