Well folks, I've finally done the unthinkable and got meself a new career type job selling PC's to schools, and how have I gone and rewarded myself? You guessed it, I've got myself a PS3. I got it with Spiderman 3 and Burnout Paradise for 314.99 from GameStation, and I've bought COD 4 and Resistance separately off Amazon. Thoughts so far?

1) The PS3 is clearly the best thing ever. But then, you knew I'd say that :)

2) The media streaming is awesome. I've got a Nero MediaHome server running which the PS3 detects straight away, watched a couple of episodes of Firefly and Eddie Izzard - Dressed to Kill on it without issue. Also found Teen Hitchhikers 17 works a treat too :)

3) The game graphics look ace considering I've only got a pikeydef telly. My goal for the year is now to save up for a 40" Bravia, but in the meantime I'm more than happy with what I'm seeing.

4) GT HD is damn addictive for a tech demo.

5) I dislike driving games when I have to use the triggers to accelerate and brake. So I haven't played Burnout much. What I have played seems OK though, not played enough to comment.

Anyway apparently COD4 and Resistance are in the local depot, so I'm off to pick them up. I've played both before and know them to be spoogeworthy, just need to go get.

So, to sum up, w00t.

Really wouldn't have bothered with spidey 3 or resistance.

The only games worth having are cod4, uncharted and possibly burnout -it gets old very quickly.

Cod4 is amazing SP, but very short, very good MP on the 360, can't comment on the ps3 MP.

Did not want to consider importing a 60gb from Europe so you could play all your old ps2 games and ditch the old machine?

As I've said I've already played Resistance, found it a lot more fun than a lot of the pish that came out last year (like Halo 3), and it was cheaper to get with Spidey 3 than without, so it seemed a bit silly not to save a tenner and get a free movie.

I thought about finding a 60Gb one, but they don't play all the PS2 games I have properly, so I'd end up keeping my PS2 anyway. I've had 5 years good service out of it now, so am a bit attached to be honest. I'd happily forgo the 40 quid I'd get for it for it not to be used to play hand-me-down Toy Story games for the rest of eternity.

Not had any problems with Sixxaxis either, seems just as comfy as DS2. Could do with being a bit heavier, but I'll get a DS3 when it comes out. Also a bit annoying how it won't charge the pad in standby mode. But apart from that it is uber.

Roll on GT5: Prologue and GTA 4.

Call of Duty 4! You won't be able to play with most of us as we have it on the 360 but it's still a good game. What's your PSN username, I might send you a message. That's all I really use it for these days, nothing worth playing on it that I don't already have for the 360.

I think all I'm really waiting for is that Little Big Planet, Gran Turismo and Final Fantasy. And maybe Rock Band. Mmmm.

My PSN username is weedfish. I've just been to pick up Resistance and COD 4. After I've finished tidying my flat I shall park myself on the couch and get involved.

You will play Resistance after or before you play COD4 and if like me never play it again Resistance isn't even remotely good in my opinion but maybe i've been spoilt by the likes of GOW/Ghost series.

My PS3 currently sits as a dvd player because prices for blu-ray dvds are laughable right now.

Welcome aboard Bodhi, another person to add to the friends list. Oh it's getting busy. I actually enjoy playing Burnout Paradise, I guess my simpleton mind never bores of driving at insane speeds :)

Without realising it, I spent 2.5 hours in a single session on the DEMO :D
