well i had just walked off the bus into the town centre, was making my way to guitar shop.. but was diverted by this huge timesplitters 2 poster in the window of GAME. It said "Timesplitters 2 - out now"

So i thought .. hmm i walked in, asked the guy if i could test it out, he said sure. but for a price of £2...

So i turn on Xbox, load up a multiplayer game with my mate, there was 3 different speeds to choose from, slow, normal and furious.

So me being a CS player i chose..... furious of course

The amount of options to choose from were overwealming, it was like goldeneye with double the options.

I loaded up - the controls felt right at home, definately as good as Halo if not better.

I expected it to be just another fps, but no i was wrong. the game flows so well, the map i played anyway was well designed and well structured. The gameplay was excellent and it sorta made Halo multiplayer look very average.

I had a dabble with single player game, but didnt have enough time to decide weather it was good or not. But that doesnt matter to me.


Anyways im gonna use the 10 day return option to send back sega soccer slam( which wasnt even bad!) to get TS2.

Splinter Cell's shite as far as I've heard m8... I just bought TS2 & gave it a go... controls are a bit weird and take some getting used to, but the gameplay is cool

ok i got the game and played it for about 5 hours worth.

The aiming system has been nicked from goldeneye - probably for the worse compared to Halo. It just adds more randomness to the battles and usually u have to get right next to your opponent to hit them unless they have a zoomed in sniper. No jumping is annoying too, theres just some places you would like to reach. (6/10)

The graphics on some levels are average, but on some of the rainy outdoor levels - really good. (8/10)

The single player story mode is great, each level has objectives and then more objectives and revealed throughout the mission. Different guns are available for each level settings (eg year 2300 - Lasers etc... 1990 - Ak47's, pistols) Security cameras also add a challenge. The arcade mode is a set of deathmatch type levels grouped together in different catergories. You can win a bronze, silver or gold award depending on how well you do. Theres tons of stuff to do and lots to get. (10/10)

If only the controls were like halo it would be perfect....

Also.. theres a game called deathrow coming out very soon for xbox(exclusive) Its like 3d speedball.

Some americans already have it and sayin its the dogs bollx. Also IGN gave it 9.3/10 so may have to get that too!

yeah i was watching a game of this recently and it did remind me a lot of goldenye which is a good thing! but the console i'm gonna get it for will be the cube i think. will probably suit the joypad better tbh than the other 2 consoles.

should be better than halo don't get me wrong halo is ok - but goldeneye still rules! get over the jumping prob! that wern't in goldeneye either!

I totally disagree with that ..

N64 pad had worse buttons than xbox controller and the analogue sticks felt horrible and got dust in it very quick

oh and maybe the fact a friend had to teach me how to hold the damn thing!!

the n64 pad is one of the shittest pieces of design i have ever encountered in my entire fucking life (i speak from experience, i had an n64, anyway).

qualification;

trident design. the most commonly used directional controller was the analogue stick... this was centrally located... and was closer towards you than the buttons or the dpad.... so you ended up holding it with some sorta lob-sided grip.... weird, stupid, and if ya get bad wrists... uncomfortable. aside from that lovely-ish. nice buttons at least.... but by far the stupidest grip design i have ever seen.

xbox pad seems to be an evolution of the dreamcast one.. it's very well designed... fills the hand, easy to grip - doesn't really require finger tension... all controls easily accessible (and i have small hands).... i can see some kids having a problem with it.... but the xbox pad S should sort that out when it comes out soon.

they aren't discontinuing the xbox pad, they are merely releasing the xbox pad S in this country... the [smaller] pad that is bundled as standard with the japanese machine, which is apparently 24% smaller. the actual pad is EXACTLY the same, just scaled down.

how can you not know how to hold the n64 pad? it's not like i was using my feet and my mouth dude. i did know how to hold it, it's just a shit design... sue me? nintendo CAN do wrong with their pad designs! as evidenced by the gamecube pad.... LOVELY thing to hold... LOVELY directional controllers.

absolutely fucking horrendous buttons... like something off a fisher price speaking toy!
