Voltages

I've never really bothered paying much attention before but using Via's HW Monitor on my Abit KT7A Rev 1.3 I get the following voltage readings....

VCore Value = 1.86
2.5V Value = 3.51
3.3V Value = 3.48
5V Value = 5.00
12V Value = 12.13

Is this normal?

The only thing I've messed about with is upping the VCore value to 1.85 in the BIOS cos of overclocking and making my PC more stable (at a temp increase..but hey ho).

Mine are:

Vcore = 1.74
3.3V = 3.28
+5V = 4.89
+12V = 12.42

Most of your figures seem within there limits although the second figure is a little strange.

all the voltages on the right are meant to be as close as they can be to the volages on the left.

Thanks for that valuable input newbie. If you hadn't have said that I'd have gone on wondering forever.

What I was hoping for was that some would turn around and go "Those values are totally out, you need to try this, this and this to correct it" or "Those are nothing to worry about, most voltages vary by about 20% or so".

Generally the figures should be within 10%.

n3wbie: re-read WPkenny's question then decide if your answer was suitable or not. by all means go ahead and "flame" him for being sarcastic.

considering your answer was pointing out the obvious, which everybody already knew, im sure the sarcastic remark is well founded.

next time think before posting. :eek:

WPKenny: the 2.5v value looks a bit too high, have you had any drives fail or stop working recently?

other than that, looks fine, anything within 10~15% of those ranges are good enough, unless your running an epox board.. which is fiddly with the +5v line anyhow.

is the PSU a generic-brand or a badged one?

n3wbie - no more of that thankyou

Kieran - if your 2.5V is that far over 3V something aint right at all :/

It's a badged PSU, can't remember which though.

I've not had any drives go wrong either. Nothing's wrong with the PC as such. It's benchmarking as I'd expect it to, it's not unstable or anything. It just got me wondering when I saw those voltages seemed higher than the program was saying they should be.
