a nasty one :p

but on a serious note, open up regedit then go to the following keys

HKEY_CURRENT_USER > Software > Microsoft > Windows > CurrentVersion > Run

and

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > Software > Microsoft > Windows > CurrentVersion > Run

as well as the

RunOnce
RunOnceEx
RunServices (not present on XP)

keys for both Local_Machine & Current_User

look for any 'dodgy' looking files ending in .exe / .com / .bat or .scr and delete them, then reboot the machine.

You might also wanna get a decent virus scanner the has regular updates such as Norton AV 2003 or even McAfee v7 at a stretch

Yeah.. heh, do as they say.. but if you come across a "dodgy" .exe first do a search on the internet and see what it is, for all you know it could be a valid Windows program..

If it comes up as a Virus etc.. then remove it

*cough*

I used to think like that. Nothing like a virus to teach you the error of your ways.

I had to get my Dad to buy one. He's always dling stuff oblivious of the consequences. He has found a couple recently such as bugbear so hyes now a convert to the true path.

I take it you dl patches and game related stuff for your online gaming

I also used to think like that... until 3 years ago i caught the "loveable" CIH virus... wiped my HDD and corrupted the flash bios... cost me £80 to replace the motherboard :(

you know what they say... once bitten twice a paranoid cunt!

I wouldn't go anywhere without a firewall and up-to-date virus checker these days....

we lives and learns!

now go get yourself a worthy virus checker...... NOW!

Its precisely this kind of attitude that makes a virus so infectious, and it's sad when you have completely free virus scanners* that have regular updates available.

Don't be part of the problem, become part of the solution.

* another recommendation.
