Anyone in here collect rare Vinyls who can point me in the direction of or answer this query I have regarding an LP I have?

The query is...

I have a UK first pressing of the first Led Zeppelin album. However the logo on the sleeve is in blue instead of usual orange and have searched on the weeby thingymugiggy but can find no mention to this.

I have the same album, and the logo is indeed blue.

I'm not sure why this is, as all later albums had orange or green logos... but it may be something to do with it being the first UK pressing of the album (all other countries had the orange logo as far as I know).

I've seen the album for sale at around £30 in Brighton (blue logo).

Ive just spoken to a record collector who told me that it is a very rare UK first pressing and highly desirable.

GDW what is the condition of the Vinyl? If its valuable, please don't play it on anything less than an audiophile turntable.

Examples of which may be found here:

Poor or damaged Styli can severly damage old Vinyl, best to be safe.

Hmmm its been enjoyed so although theres lots of surface scratches there are no jumps and doesnt detract from the sound, well not on my crappy system anyway. Id describe it as good condition

Im going to flog it on Ebay, so come Saturday when Im off I can take some daylight photos of it.

I bought it in a second hand book shop in 1984 for £1.50, played it a few times back then and more recently just the once to check its condition before I sell it.

Thanks for the info Tom. Ill post a link to it in the Ebay thread once its up for auction.

Cool, I might have a look at that, but be very careful to tell the bidders that you don't know about the record quality grading system, and that its sold as is.

I've got that wierd Blue Monday 12" EP somewhere, with the cover that looks like a giant floppy diskette, anyone know about that one, I was told it could be worth something.

I think the original one was a black sleeve with small blocks of colour down one edge.
