Fraps 2.0 retail - Software capturing program, in my humble opinion the best one around.
Adobe Premiere Pro 7.0 - Excellent movie editor, unfortunately rather expensive also. Other cheap/free alternatives would be Windows Movie Maker and Camtasia (sp?), but they are remarkably below the standard of Premiere. I've seen some decent movies made with Movie Maker, though, so that one would be my first alternative.
VirtualDub - Video and audio compressor, which features a lot of utilities, ranging from cutting, streaming, filtering and tweaking. An absolute must to finish your movies with, and better yet, it's completely free of charge.

As an optional addendum I would recommend using the XviD codec to compress movies. It is by far superior to its counterpart DivX when it comes to quality, and it has a ton of configurations that will allow you to manually make your movies look better than any DivX rendered movie.
