Video Encoders

Hey all

I've recently found an old video of raven shield, I was thinking of getting it hosted, but it hasnt been encoded yet.

I've tried a few searches on google but I'm not entirely sure what Im looking for. I've heard that you can encode the video to make it smaller in size, so it will be easier to get it hosted.

Does anyone know of a decent encoder?

Virtual Dub will do it. It's not strictly speaking a simple program but it's not that tough.

When you load the vid, there's options for direct stream copy or full processing mode under audio and video. The former leaving it unencoded and the latter reencoding at whatever rate you want. After you've selected which you want to redo - you can edit the bit rate/codec/video size etc. It's reasonably straightforward.
