Hi,
Dunno if anyone here is into this, but I may as well ask. I have recently installed a pinnacle DV 500 DVD in my system but am having a few problems.
Please bear with me, this is difficult to explain and I am new to all this, so I am not sure of the correct terms.
When I view any clips the picture has very bad interlace type problems. i.e. alternate bands in the image, where one frame seems to alternate with the next.
If I resize the monitors to make them smaller then the effect disappears, though I get a different problem where a line moves up the image intermittently, the picture above the line is offset a couple of pixels to the left.
I have now lost all sound when I am editing as well.
I am using PAL, and have used the default Pinnacle settings in Premiere, I first installed the card whilst my GF4 was still AWOL, and did't have these problems with the card I had in at the time.
My system now consists of:
Athlon 2000XP
Abit KR7A-133 mobo (non Raid)
2x512Mb ddr ram
Leadtek GF4 ti4400 Graphics card.
60GB Seagate Barracuda IV HD (7200 rpm)
80Gb Western Digital Caviar HD
Hercules GameTheater XP soundcard.
Windows XP pro
The old graphics card was a Creative GeForce 2 Pro
I have tried uninstalling the Pinnacle drivers and Premiere, and reinstalling the lot. I have also tried several different graphics drivers, but all with the same result. I have also applied the 4.02 patch, to the pinnacle drivers.
I have checked the IRQs, apparently Pinnacle cards are a bit fussy about this, but it does have one all to itself.
I know that this seems like an incompatability with the GF4 card, but I did ask the retailer if my system was OK for the DV500 and he said yes.
I have also tried the non Pinnacle PAL DV settings in Premiere, and everything works fine, picture and sound.
My next step will be to physically remove the DV500 board from the computer and try the reinstall from scratch, and also to put the old card back in to see if it still works with that.
Is there anything else I can do?
Are there known issues with this graphics card?
I really want to get the thing working with my GF4 card as it is dual head and I like using 2 monitors. It is also far more suited to the other things I use the computer for. I'd love it, but I really can't afford a second system just for video editing at the moment
Thanks in advance
